has anyone done any tinting on their windows? if so, where would you recommend i go to... i've looked around, but everything has been kinda expensive. any help?

There is a place in Hammoond, IN that will do all the windows(except windshield ) for $150. Its called mr 50's

i got mine done at a place on archer and california, actually i think it was one block past california. Anyways it was pretty cheep and they did an awesome job. Its called Archer Auto Glass. hmmm, i think 'll give them a ring, i only need the sides done 'cuz for some reason, my back and rear quarters are already tinted.

Thats because in Illinois it is illegal to have the side windows tinted. Most places will do it but if you get busted they wont take responsibility

its illegal? i might have read that tint laws thread in the law forum wrong then... cuz it said in illinois that any tint is ok on all windows except the windshield.

i tinted my side windows and they came out perfect with 5% tint. took the glass out and tinted it indoors. didnt do the back cus back windows should be left to the pros. taking the tint off this summer because its really hard to see out at night.

the 6" is the distance from the middle of the top of your windshield downward. so any tint or sticker not longer than 6" down the center is legal. in PA since our civics dont have the AS line its 3 "

The 6" thing is usually that blue stripe along the top of your windshield to cut out some of the sunlight

 

I have a guy for you to go to. He's my friend Mike and he's in Buffalo Grove. He's tinted 4 of my cars and he does a great job. I send everyone to him. And I know him personally so that's a plus. If it's just the two windows, I'm sure he'll maybe charge about $60-$75 or so. He did my Civic for free for my b-day. Anyway... let me know if you'd like to use him. He can do it in a garage or if he does it at the shop he'd have to charge you more.

And yeah, front tints are illegal in IL. My Civic is 30% all around, except for the windshield. And on there, I have about an 8" tint strip. My stuff is illegal, but I haven't been yanked for it yet. And BG cops are mean about that stuff too.

Here is the tint he did on my car. It's 30% all around. But I just removed the front window tints today. Hubby didn't like it that dark.

can you go lighter than 30%, cause I think that I would like 30% on the rear doors and back window of my sedan, but I don't want to be busted for the front doors,even though i want to do them.

 

Yes. I know that he sometimes has 40% film. I would just have to ask him at the time. I used to have a 00 Civic Si that I had someone do 50% all around on and it looked really nice.

On my current car, I took the fronts off literally right after I took those pictures. I now like it better with nothing on the fronts. I'll take pics this weekend and post them.

got mine done...119 for 15%. lifetime. looks HOT...all 4 plus rear.
just ask ur friends dog.....everyone knows someone who can do it.
the guy who did mine has his own shop out of his car garage.
...installed my alarm too. it was 230 including tints/alarm/install
not bad at all when best buy asks for 200 just to install an alarm...werd

I already tinted my 3/4 windows and need to find a place that can tint my rear and possibly the fronts, any suggestions?
