2002 Civic DX (me) Vs. 1.8T Golf

Well I was coming home from my friends house tonight and I saw a car way in front of my that looks fixed up. I got closer and I heard Turbo. It was a 1.8T golf, black, lowers, rims, and exhaust. Well I got next to him and he reved up his car on me, I was like no way, my car is so. But he followed me to this street and we meet up at a stop sign and raced. I don’t know if it was a auto or he was holding back but we were neck and neck all the way till the next stop sign, which happens to be a little bellow a 1/4 mile. We were both going about 77 - 80 miles a hour before we slammed on or brakes to stop, because there was a car in front of us.
Well just felt like sharing, but there is no way my car is that fast, I'm only running at the best mid 17's on the 1/4 mile. He must of been holding back, unless those cars only have like 140hp or something. can someone please enlighten me on how much hp those things have, and weight.

Golf and Jetta 1.8T now have 180hp, it was either last year or the year before they had 150hp. They are heavy compared with Civics, like around 400 pounds more. Unless it was a 150hp auto, I will agree that they must've been holding back.

It was Golf turbo so it should be incoming on 3000lbs, not sure if the exact numbers... but I still think the person was holding back. Those turbos have a power and torque curve our Civics cant keep up with. I know VW auto transmission arent the fastest shifters, but, who knows......
