Me Vs. Team Folgers and Team Stupid
I'm new, but I wanted to post my rather recent experiences with racing while they're still fresh in my mind.
I deliver pizzas for a living(at least for now), so I spend a lot of time driving. Unfortunately, it has to be in my '02 Civ LX. For some bizarre reason, everyone with a reasonably powerful car thinks they just HAVE to race me. Today, when I was driving, it was rather wet out. I pull up to a stop light, and this kid in an Olds Alero pulls up next to me. Immediately, he guns his motor to signal that he wants to race. I roll my eyes and glare at him. He guns his motor again. I decide, fine. We'll race. Moment the light turns green, I go easy on the gas and off I go. Mr. Olds, unfortunately, floored it and was left spinning his tires.
Later that night, I'm driving, and Team Folgers drives up next to me. It's some Mitsubishi Eclipse with the chromed-out coffee can muffler and nothing else. Well, of course since he put all that money($150 for the muffler at Pep Boys) into "performance mods", he wants to race me from a roll. He indicates his desire to race by giving a bit of gas to nudge his car ahead and looks at me. Again, shoot him the "why did your government-appointed handler ever train you to drive, subnormal?" look and rev the engine a bit. He floors it. I downshift from 4th back into 3rd and floor it. Leave him by several car lengths, smelling my extremely-clean exhaust fumes, and all without hitting 4500rpms. I slow down, so as not to irritate the cops, and Team Folgers pulls up again. He wants a rematch. I roll my eyes, and we repeat what happened last time. This continues twice more, until I have to make a turn. I get to see him as he passes by, and he's quite peeved.
I love my Civic.
Notes: Street racing is both dangerous and illegal. So yeah, take it to the track when you can. Saves you money and your life. Also, if you're wondering why I didn't get pulled over by the Five-Oh, it's becos the cops out here are VERY tolerant of pizza drivers.
