I spoke to my parents today and they greeted me with some bad news: My brother got in a car accident late last night (2am). He lived but his g/f, who was in the front passenger seat, died. Both were wearing their seatbelts. She was knocked unconcious instantly and died 15 minutes later. The cause of death is uncertain as she didn't hit the windshield, dash, or door. I'm guessing the seatbelt probably caused it somehow.

Here is what happened: He was driving at about 55 MPH (the speed limit) on a two lane hwy when a lady decided to make a U turn. My brother said he saw her but since he had the green light and she stoped he didn't think anything of it. He doesn't remember if he looked away, blinked, or what, but the next thing he knows the lady tried to make the u-turn and decided MID TURN that she didn't have the time to make it so she STOPED, blocking both lanes. He tried to slam on the brakes but didn't have enough time and T-boned the lady driving her Bonneville (he was driving a '90 Tempo). She wasn't hurt and my brother walked away with only a bruise from the seatbelt and some muscle aches.

The point of this thread: WATCH OUT FOR THE OTHER IDIOTS ON THE ROADS!!!! I can't stress it enough. There was no alcohol involved on either side but you can never tell what the other guy is going to do. If you assume the other guy is an idiot and is going to do something REALLY, REALLY stupid more times than not you will save yourself some trouble. Not that my brother could've really done much different but now he will live with that on his concience for the rest of his life. She was 29 with two boys, 5 and 6. May God be with them![hr]

Get a lawyer right now and sue the women. Get the right lawyer and you can get $1 mill.. I read a case similar to yours.

That's what's wrong with this country; everyone is sue happy. Accidents happen, and unless it was intentional then there is no reason to sue. Don't you think she feels bad enough that a woman died because she ran a red light?

Although, my brother said he saw the news the next day and the reporter said the other woman said her light was green and my brothers was red. My brother is like me, we won't lie about something so important. We'll take the heat rather than be caught in a lie. Like I've said before, we'll lie about cheeseball things like not having a quarter to a bum asking for one and stuff like that but not for something important. He declined all interviews by the media, he just wanted to go to the hospital and go home. If she says that in court then I can see suing her for being a biotch and lying.

things happen in life for a reason, and always remember things doesnt always go by your expectations.

ok silverdevil, when u said this: She was 29 with two boys, 5 and 6. May God be with them!

the boys are not in the car when the accident happened? are they ok? im assuming both of the answers are YES.
It maybe hard for ur brother to loose his gf. but ur bro needs to be more open minded. he needs to think about his boys, and he needs to be strong, his kids seeing him sad and depressed doesnt do them any better.

Well, the kids aren't his. Both were going thru their divorces at the same time. My brother is still married with his daughter (She's gonna be 2 on November 1st) but they are legally separated. He'd been dating the girl that died for 2 or 3 months. Her kids are living with their father now. And no, they weren't in the car. It was 2am and they were on their way from dinner and a night of dancing. There was no alcohol involved by him or by the other lady driving.
