so, i raced a mazda 3 a couple of days ago. not the 2.3 liter, the base one. the car was brand new, did not have the real plate on. so i cruising at about 50 in a 35/40 and the guy passes me, waits for me, passes me. we come at a red light, we are both side by side and the light turns green. we are at about 15mph so rolling start in 2nd. we both stay side by side till the shift in 3, i powershift for the first time in a race and get half a car on him, i almost had a full car lenght at about 70 when i cut off. next light he is in front of me and floors it when it turns green. i was expecting it so i left a car lenght between us at the light. same thing happens, i catch up a little through 1st and 2nd, at the end of 2nd i am beside him at his rear wheel and get a car lenght on 3rd gear shift. finish the race at about 80mph in his lane in front of him.

going to the track for the 4th time with my stock car this week. will be my first time powershifting.

i am going to the track saturday. try to beat my time for the 4th time, i just learned how to powershift and i wanted to know how bad it was for my car. i plan to sell it this summer. thanks guys

i have never noticed a difference between powershifting and just shifting except it puts more stress on your motor because your bouncing the rev-limiter, but i have a lightweight flywheel so theres no need to powershift

power shifting is shifting so fast that the rpms barely drop. anyway, it stresses everything. but it makes alot of difference

Because I don't really think a stock Civic could beat a Mazda 3i...

Mazda 3s beats a stock Civic EX pretty damn bad.

Heck, even the Oddysey can beat stock Civic EX easily.

I think the guy in 3 was babying his new car.

funny joke... babying his new car. like i would not know if the guy is racing me. maybe he was not the best driver in the world either. the mazda 3 is 2738 lbs and i just went to the track and with me in it my car was 2541 which is 2381 lbs. was pretty close, pulled on the 2-3 shift which i power shifted. about .2 sec faster at the quarter mile. i have also beat a stock ex the first time i went at the track, and right now i would beat it even easier.

my car is stock.

mazda 3's are pretty heavy, he could have had something in the trunk to slow him down was he the 4 auto. or a 5 spd?...i dunno

the oddesy have more than 2x the hp. even though its heavier it will obviously kill a civic. the 3 will not beat a stock civic bad. it would be a drivers race.

lol my brother has a 05 mazda3 gt(160hp) and even tho i havent raced him, i have driven his car and it would rape my civic

lmao..a mazda would kill a mazda? yeh it would for you people who cant drive stick for ****, man **** a mazda except for the rx7.. And when you do powershift for example from 1st to 2nd , ur car kinda hops and doesnt chirp at all..and the outcome of that is a gap between u and ur opponet ..... and about this oddesy business..no ****in **** it would beat a civic, first of all a civic has like no torque at all and that ****in family van has lots of torque since its so heavy ...so yeh stupid comparison u made whoever brought that up ...
