They never said what gear they ran that test on. Usually dynos are done in 4th gear because for most cars that’s as close to a 1:1 ratio as you can get. However, if you dyno in say.... 2nd or 3rd the tq numbers you see will be considerably higher. Hp will be rates a bit higher too, but won’t affect the Hp nearly as much as the Tq.

Another thing is that they were over pressurizing the bottle. Most nitrous companies recommend running their systems at 800PSI. It’s a very old trick to bump the bottle pressure up in order to get more power at the track or dyno. In fact, this is one of the major reasons why people blow engine running nitrous. When you have TOO much pressure in the bottle you start getting problems. But you do have some room to play with, as they did.

So you have a magazine, whose sponsors include NX (whose product they happen to be testing) that ran one dyno test, admittedly running an over pressurized nitrous bottle and that does NOT give details as to gearing as well as other factors that can be manipulated to modify dyno figures.

This is the reason why you can never believe the "dyno proven" figures claimed by aftermarket parts manufacturers.
First off, they 110 hp baseline sounds about right to me to our cars with few bolt ons maybe even a little low considering it is an EX. Do you think they ran the 110 hp in 4th and then the nitrous express one in 3rd or second? Doubtful.

Second of all, Nitrous express recommends a bottle pressure of 1000 psi for the system to work optimally. Says it right here in my instructions. I personally never go above 950 because I would rather my car run rich then lean and detonate. 800 psi is absurdly low...

I showed you proof in black and white. Now whether you think Honda Tuning magazine is lying in a conspiracy for help boost NX's sales by claiming false hp claims is your choice of opinion.

Yes.

There are many many MANY examples of this happening, and this is an old article too.

BTW; NOS, Zex and eddlebrock 800SPSI is what it should be set at. Even if you go and buy the NOS bottle heater, it shuts off at 80*f which translates out to 800PSI with a near full 10lb bottle.

It doesn’t surprise me that NX tells its customers to run higher then normal pressures. 1000PSI is pretty safe and will compensate for low nitrous levels.

You wan tot talk about proof? I’ve seen half a dozen dynos performed with nitrous. I’ve dynoed my car on nitrous, multiple times.

You are quoting one magazine article and take it as 100% truthful fact.

Think about that.

I am just using an article as actual written proof. I know that to get 60 hp to the wheels on a 50 shot is a stretch but it can happen. I will find you another dyno where a member on this site dyno'd in the high 170 hp range maybe 180 i can't remember with the Nx kit 75 shot.

You have yet to show any written proof on our cars (not your honda or your buddies car) dynoing lower then the manufacturers claim on any nitrous kit.

So basically.....dyno your car, and tune it if you have a chance.
And look at her pictures in her profile and you can look at her dyno.

^^ that dyno doesn't show a 100lb/ft increase in torque over stock. it only shows about a 75lb/ft increase at BEST.

What are you talking about? The torque increments is on the right hand side and you can see its right at 210 or so. I don't think Ex's typically put out more then 105 ft/lbs stock. Look real closely and you can see or look in SpdRcrChk's profile.

Wow, they must have one fucked up printer. Interesting, no? I’ve never seen a dyno print that misaligned in some places yet perfectly aligned in others, especially since they are always printed from a regular computer printer. Odd.

Like I said, you have no idea what gear that dyno was done in. If I had to bet money, Id say it was 3rd.

I could understand the 25-50 alingment to save space, since the power starts right below 50, and alot of graphs cut off the lower portion because as you can see not much is going on there. I also don't think that the 175 and 150 are off, I think it's just the angle. That 225 on the top right looks a little odd though. The second 2 and 5 are actually higher than the first 2 lol.

Yeah the graph isn't square in the picture so things may look off on the increments near the top.

i meant the fact that the edge od the graph is at a different angle then the numbers on the plot. look again.

Your right, it looks like it is, but if you look at the top middle of the paper, the way he is holding it is pushing it slightly towards the camera, and on the top middle of the paper you can see it start to bend. I think it's just merely a little illusion because of the slight bend in the paper. But then again, I could be completley wrong =)

i dont think its a photochop,. im just trying to prove a point. Not believe everything you read on the internet.

Like I said, Ive seen half a dozen nitrous cars run on the dyno. People herer are just pointing to one magazine article that in all honesty is probably biased a bit. Like I said, its perfectly "legal" for them to run the dyno in 3rd gear and claim these huge gains. It doesnt mean that its going to get you that in real life.

My suggestion to NX guy here, is to go dyno your car. Make sure its done in 4th gear (you are the customer they will do what you want) and do 2 runs. One NA and one on the bottle. Better yet, film the whole deal.. then get back to us.

Can't dyno my car... I leave for school friday haha. I'll just go by Spdrcrchick's dyno. I however am going back to the track tomorrow depending on this weather to try to improve my 60 foot. My hope is get to break into the 14.3's or better. I will keep you all informed haha.

ou cant assume your car makes X amount of power from someone elses Dyno. If you arent going to dyno your car, thats fine but dont be a ricer and start saying "well my car has xxx.xxhp because so and so has xxx.xx Hp". that would be sad.

BTW most of the dyno shops I know do pulls on saturdays and or at late night. I dont see why school should be too much of an issue, especially at the start before the work load ramps up.

Well no I'm not saying my car has that exact amout of hp and tq. I'm just saying if someone asks me, I know I'm probably in that ball park.

I leave for college Friday and its about an hour away from any known dyno shops I know. Remember, I live in Ohio haha not exactly the hottest place for imports and I won't go to some muscle car place so they can just make fun of me . When I get home for christmas break, I will dyno it then if I still have all my parts on the car.
