Anyone race there stock dx/lx?
I've been reading around trying to find some stock dx/lx racers, but everybody who races them seems to have them pretty well done up
When can I expect out of my stock Lx Sport?
I know its nothing compared to my alero * Which are actually pretty quick *
But it seems to have pretty good pick up
I've already raced my friend in his stock 2 door cobalt...That wasnt too bad, he took me pretty bad off the line...But this is my first standard car, and i've only had it for a week or 2...And I stayed with him pretty good until we stopped in around 3rd gear
Anyways...sorry this post is so drawn out...

not a good car to bother with for straight line performance. i heard of people racing there civics on autocrossing, tracks, and road courses, but not many straight line 7g civic draggers that seem to impress me.
i have a stock(well....short ram and exhaust...) automatic dx. ive won agaisnt...

wow...the 3.4L sure seems a lot quicker then the civic? It had a monster first gear...
It'd hold first until 70kph, and it pulled hard...2nd, and 3rd were REAL boring tho.
I've got a list of 20 some cars i took with that alero...mostly street tho, and mostly just 0-70's :P

there are lots of cars that "feel" quicker than they really are.
drive an S2000, and then drive say a nissan maxima. the maxima "feels" a lot faster, but in reality, the S2000 would hand the maxima its ***. lol.
it may have a very strong 1st gear, but if that's so, then it likely falls on its face after that. while mag times are only a general rule of thumb, they are fairly consistent across the board for the alero. 1/4 mile times are 16.1-16.3. a real world owner might be able to break into a 15.9, but that'd be tough.
also, keep in mind, you have an auto dx right? your alero is definitely faster than the auto dx. the stick shift ex could probably take you in the 1/4 mile, and the lx/dx stick shift would put up a good fight.

I'd race my stock DX if I can put some money into it and make it non-stock. I have absolutely NO faith in my car getting under 20 seconds atm. (ok, slight overstatement, but the engine isn't in best of shape)
Nah, I have an 03 lx sport with a stick
And like I said, I raced my friend with his cobalt...The alero would take it straight to 170kph...*cutout*
And the civic...altho, like I said...I cant launch the greatest right now, I wasn't pulling, but either was he, I was on his back bumper
He'd pull in the lower rpm's, and Id pull in the higher ones
BTW - I love this car!
