Fast, Slow... Does it really matter? hell, I've out ran everything from Ford Focuses to Ferrari 308 GTB's and Porsche GT3's on track (My favorit was out running a DeTomaso Pantera)... Does that mean my civic is faster... well ya, in those instances. but that doesnt mean that those cars are slow, nor does it mean the civic is fast. It just means the drivers of those cars were slow...
What annoys me is how people seem to judge a car on its 1/4 mile or 0-60... when there is so much more to a car then how well it accelerates.
Oh ya, Chirping tires = Bad. you'r wasting power spinning the wheels = Slower acceleration, and your sending a nice shock wave through the transmission (Just asking to break something...)

i agree with u 100% ZZyzx, But i do believe on the street, 99% of the time straightline speed is more necessary than cornering, sure taking freeway offramps at 70-ish is cool, but merging at 40 isnt. U can use 1/4 mile speed more practically in day-to-day life rather than auto-X speed. ( altho i like the feeling of autoX, nothing makes me happier than running 13's and lower its super fun). I just wish i had $$ to get rid of this car and get something that i can afford an engine swap into

i think his point was just that there is more to "speed" than going fast in a straight line, so he was adding on to what I said about "fast" or "slow".
this has to be the lame`est thread evAr.
If you can break traction in 3rd gear with that car and those mods, Id hate to see what sort of skid pad you would pull on those tires. lol .0003g

speed is relative. to some people the 13 second S2000 is slow. or even the C5 is "slow". speed is relative. if he thinks that civics are not slow, then that's what it means relative to him. if someone flames him for that, IMO, they are ricers who don't know enough about cars.

and i didnt know if the sythetic oil was a mod but isnt it safer to run at high rpms with sythetic? thats why i said that so people arent like omg your waiting untill 6000 rpms to shift your going to blow your car up. you know how people can be.
and since my car only has like 100 hp zzyx the little wheelspin that i get while im accelerating isnt slowing me down enough for me to worry about it.
and yeah i will admit my car prob doesnt stop as quick as i'd like it to. but then again it doesnt go near as fast as i'd like it to either so once my cars gets a lil faster then i'll worry about the braking power. and i think i read somewhere on here that brakes just slow you down anyway.

a common fallacy is that synthetic protects better for high rpm or for performance. nowadays, this is no longer the case.
the ONLY benefits synthetic provide over a decent conventional oil are: protection in EXTREME temps (think death valley), and longer drain intervals. that's it.

tires are your best modification in any case. they will help you go turn and stop faster. quite a bit more so then a lot of mods you might think of getthing first. In fact good tires will help you stop better then upgraded lines & pads, and it will help you corner harder then a full suspension set up. Iin fact, the right tires will help you accelerate faster then a limited slip and bolt ons. believe it or not.
