celica vs celica (not me)

This story is kinda funny and sad at the same time so I figured it'd be a good post lol

what we were doing....
we just installed my teamates almost fully built motor/new turbo setup today and we were going out to street tune the A/F so we could head over to the dyno.

his setup....
2001 celica gt-s
GT-35R turbo
8.8:1 compression, new rods, p&p head, new valves/springs
new synchro-less racing tranny with new gearing ratios and custom LSD
race gas.
his old turbo setup on stock compression @ 10psi put down 278whp. we had this one running at 10 psi while we tuned this time also. I'd estimate it conservatively at 325 whp w/o tuning. also with us both in the car it weighed about 2400 lbs.

some chick..
early 90's celica ST
stock - 105 hp lol
she had a turbo though.

we are sitting at a light playing with the a/f at idle and this chick revs her lil blowoff valve at us and of course we laugh. so he nods at her and smiled. we were on regular street tires so traction was a huge issue. our first pull we broke the tires loose on a 3rd gear roll as soon as we hit 6,000 rpms.
when the light went green he punched it and holy crap did first gear go by fast leaving nothing but smoke and we were still able to pull past her . he slammed second and it dropped to 4k rpms and he rolled into the throttle and again lost traction and she started to catch up. he let her pass as he shifted to 3rd so he could catch traction and then we just flew by like she was in reverse. the look on her face was priceless as the wastegate (which was dumping to atmosphere cause we were in a hurry) dumped right as we were side by side. (it's sounds really really loud) we hit 140mph like it was nothing and he shut it down. (lights out ther eare exactly 1 mile apart)
then he as we got to the next red, his car over heated and we had to shut it down. we lost cylinder # 3 so that motor is screwed now. I guess that was his punishment for doin that lol

the bad news is he won't be able to compete at the IDRC tomorrow. the good news is we already had a stroked 2zz that he was building to go in next. we spent the rest of the day finishing that so by tomorrow that one should be running and hopefully we'll get to make some vids of it in the bracket racing event they have on sunday. his car will hopefully become the fastest 2ZZ powered celica. (not a hard thing to do lol) we're hopin to hit 500whp w/o water injection.

so thats how my day went

yes/no. aparently the machine shop did a **** job when they put the sleeve in on that cylinder.

we got the stroker kit in and at 8,000 rpms on 15psi we maxed the 750cc injectors lol
It's gonna run friday so hopefully saturday I'll have some cool vids to post.
