and no the gt won't kill his civic.
gt's as well as gts's are very light ... maybe 100 pounds lighter than the civic.. something like that.
depends on what kind of wheels you have on your car ... 18" chrome wheels are ridiculously heavy

not to mention more than likely an increase in overall tire diameter which is akin to putting taller gears in your car, thus slowing your acceleration.

Well to be realistic...
Just looking @ numbers, the GT will take you. Your intake/exhaust will not do enough. The biggest factor is weight, even if you took out all your audio, speakers and amps, he'll still get you.
Weight
Vic Ex: 2597
Celi GT: 2425
HP/TRQ
Vic Ex: 127/114
Celi GT:140/125
He has a better power to weight ratio and also the GT has better agressive gearing compared to your ex. He might pull a car maybe a lil less or more, but I wouldnt call that close. Only way to find out is race him.

people need to stop looking at max hp numbers as if that determines the winner of a race.
so much more goes into this. gearing, power band, weight, etc.
i'm amazed people are ignoring the fact this guy added heavy chrome 18" rims to his car. Added weight, PLUS the fact that the larger diameter rims/tires reduce acceleration.

by the way, after a quick 10 minute search, the best i could find for a stock celica GT was a 16.0. that's a driver's race with a civic ex all day.
and now throw in those bigger rims/tires and i'm thinking he should be fairly beatable for you.

All I could see from the gt was a muffler and it was from florida while in california.
I know the auto tranny in the GT and GT-S is crap, but he's got a 5spd, so I would say a driver's race. Just like s2000man01 said, those chromies aren't helping, so as long as you don't have big *** rims and a huge system, you should be able to keep up or take him. If you do have aftermarket wheels, put your stockies back on and drop the pressure on the fronts to about 20-22 psi.
