a truck is not a race car
i was just looking at your 1/4 mile list. what do you guys run stock? most full size trucks these days are in the 16's stock with many of them in the 15's stock.
your from texas, i am sure there are lots of quick trucks down there.

Yeah, I hate people with big a** trucks that look like they weigh 20 tons. WHy do they want to race, they are slow most all the time. My dads Escalade can haul frekain as* though. I drove another Escalade, and my dads would have beaten it by like 2 seconds in a 1/4.
i don't know how fast stock civics run cuz I never tested it at the track nor have I had time to go to the track to test my car out.
Fast trucks in texas? i don't know about that, I know in dallas there are a LOT of ricers though. Where I live, people usually just buy fast cars or buy econo cars and keep them that way, we don't have very many awesome tuners here besides places where you can bling out your cars. lol

parish, see i like your truck. looks cool, clean, i dont see any mods, so to each their own. i understand why people might mod their truck, the same as one might mod their civic. it's fun, it's a hobby, it's a sport, etc. you are obviously proud of your truck, hence taking the time to clean it, park it somewhere, and take a picture. that's what we're all here for.
my complaint is mostly with those who jack the truck up, put massive tires on it, or buy something like a ram or f150, and then race with it. why jack it up, put big rims on, or get something like a ram or f150 and then race it? to me that seems counter productive. that's what annoys me.
the civic is an economy car, yes. but it has a huge aftermarket support, regardless of its tunability. there is a support for it, it's popular to do, and people race them because they want to race them.
it's one thing to race a truck and a civic. but throw your dodge ram up against an S2000? wtf are you thinking? i hope this post helps clear up my stance on this matter a bit more clearly.
and welcome to the site.
we certainly appreciate non-civic owners here to give an outside perspective to any number of things.

well. what do i know. around here no one wants to race. i would be happy to have anyone pull up next to me wanting to play. as it is i have to drive around for hours egging people on just to get a race. there are many times i pull up next to someone in what would typicaly be a quick car like a mustang or camaro and they just laugh at me when i want to race. then i smoke them and sometimes their attitude changes and sometimes is doesn't.
i have nothing against "imports" i have ran into my share of quick imports. most of the time it is a supra but i have had a hard time with a civic and a eclipe recently.
my $.02 i am happy to see people do any mods to their car/truck. i am an auto enthuisisat(sp), anyone that is into their car is cool with me, dont matter if it is a z06 or a wrx or a hatch. actualy the slower more off the wall the car is the more cool it is to me.
there is insane amounts of after market support for the chevy trucks. we basicaly have a camaro/vette driveline so you know there are parts out there for us.

that being said does anyone want to race?

Civic has plenty of tunning capabilities for the daily driver. Fiddle with the suspension youll get a light crazy handling car. Not everyone needs a 14 second car to have fun.
Parish8, nice vid, 10.91 at 122 is damn respectable.
The same mods on our d17s would not put us anywhere near that...
As far as racing goes, I won't bring out the vic, but could be talked into bringing out either the Mach 1 or the Challenger.

My point is...a truck is a machine meant for things that economy, sports, or vans can't do...and that is tow huge loads of mass objects or things. So when people turn their trucks into "sport cars" it's pretty pathetic. and of course there are the exceptions to everything like truly tuned trucks for racing...but how many do u see on the streets?

metallica, you're missing the point. what civicmorph and i am trying to say, is we don't understand why someone jacks their truck up, then tries to race with it. buying a truck and then doing things to it to make it a big bad truck, are counter productive to racing it. why buy a truck and try to turn it into a sports car and rice it out?
civics, though good reliable economic cars, have an aftermarket, and quite a following, in case you haven't noticed. hence the reason people race them, mod them, etc. civicmorph is not being hypocritical.
civic01vtec, i assume your post is all in good humor. the guy didn't come in and flame or be disrespectful, so i'm sure everyone here can give him the same courtesy.

i just dont see the diference here. if someone wants a monster truck and wants to make it quick that who cares. if they want to pick up a race here and there then who cares. i dont see any diference between them and a moded civic or a lowerer hotroded truck.
you keep talking about the after market support for civic's but i have to tell you the support for trucks is insane.

I agree with parish8. I have a Chevy Silverado truck also, and when your out on the street it doesnt matter what your driving or how its modded. Everyone including grandma in her Buick LaSabre will race you.

well, what we are saying is if you want to race your truck or make it perform on the street, then you lower it, install some performance tires and do some engine mods. If you install huge mud tires and jack it up, then you are modifying your truck for off-road. It is basically a oxy moron.

I never said jacking the truck up is a good idea to turn it into a racer. In fact, I said the exact opposite. I agree with you in that point, as I said before. The reason I think Civicmorph is being hypocritical, is because he's hating truck owners for taking a truck and turning it into something its not, which is exactly what most people do in this forum. That's hypocritical. And while it is counter productive to build a race truck by lifting it and bolting on 35s, I've seen videos of huge trucks like that that still run 12s. It's possible and its cool as hell when it works.
