Smoked a Del Sol
I was wondering what Specs. the Del Sols have since today on my way to SCROC(auto class) I saw this guy who was driving one and pulled away from him. We hit a light and he took off so I caught up and was behind him and once it cleared I blew by him... is this anything to be proud of or did I waste my gas on showing up some guy having a mid life crisis?

actually, the base model, Del Sol S has the engine pulled from the 5thgen LX model, which was a 1.5L, raced a friend with the 1.5, no contest. The Del Sol Si had the engine from the EX, D16Z6 which had SOHC VTEC. My brother has that, kind of close. And well, Del Sol Si VTEC........... yeah........
easiest way to tell, loko in the back, if they have drums, it's S model. Any other 1 has rear disk.

The only one that would beat a 7th gen is the b16 model The othe d series ones are slow. I am guessing 17sec 1/4 mile times
They don't call em del slo for nothing.

SOHC VTEC D16Z 127HP not sure about torque, but it's less than a D17A2.
And the D15...... probably like 105 or so.
How much do those del sols weigh exactly. I've heard they're especially slow because of their weight so therefore I think that even if the b16 powered model could beat us, I dont think it would be win by very much.

ok, it's slower compared to the old CRX Si, and not as track friendly b/c it's not a solid chassi. As for weight, I think the Si Del Sol weighs in at 2300 or so pounds... not exactly light for such a small car, but there are things that can be done to make it even lighter.
umm... you better, you have 200cc more motor!

I'm speaking for the Del Sol Si...... not DOHC. I think the Del Sol convertable, with an actual machine to remove the roof, was only in the DOHC model.
OK, got the specs from Edmunds: it ranged from 2295 for the S to 2522 for the DOHC. Youre right on the weight.... but the Si trim does weigh less than a 7thgen EX.... which is more comparable than the B16 model.
