Older Jetta? Gimme a break...
I'm driving while on the cell phone late at night. Yeah Yeah I know stupid thing to do, but me and my...girlfriend I guess? were having a conversation. While I'm talking to her at a stop light an older jetta pulled up. I'm like eh whatever. Then I'm like, "is this guy revving?" I look over and the guy is looking at me revving, and rocking his car back and forth. I shake my head and continue my convo, when I hear him yell out "pus.sy!" I'm like okay **** head you're done. I hang up the phone, the light turns green, and no joke I put like 6 car lengths on his punk ***. Eat turbo poop. Guess the ricer..err..what's a good word for a ricer with a german car?? I dunno, but what a tool. He turned off onto the next street, guess he couldn't bare the shame.

Hah, okay I coulda told you racing was stupid. You can tell me smoking is bad too, I freakin know, but do you think it's going to deter me? Besides the point, I rarely race on the street. Just an isolated incident here. If I wanted scoldings or lectures I'd go talk to my mom. If it bothers you that much don't read the racing section of the forum.

yeah what's up poeple with Jetta's. there cars are heavy and slow. Given the 1.8T and vr6 are fast in a straight line. Keep in mind the 2001 1.8t's are 150hp, not 180 like 2002 and up. Not very powerful and heavy as crap.
Just be careful you don't come up against and older Jetta or GTI that has had a VR6 transplant. Of course that makes the older, lighter car a strictly straight line car.
As for what do you call a German ricer, kraut mobile always worked for me when I had my VW.

VW enthusiasts brag about the new R32, the civic type R destroys and its front wheel drive and it has less HP. VW is behind Honda when it comes to racing. Even Our coupe has a crazy chassis. Light, strong and our suspension is far better and more advanced.
^i don't know bout that...i was riding with a friend of mine(89civic hatch with a turbo'd b16) and we could barely keep up with the r32! it was almost like the guy was letting us get close to him just so he could peel off again!...we killed at 130mph! that thing is very impressive!

Every car has its postives though the R32 is an impressive car I'd still opt for a Civic type R.
According to Top gear they got a better lap time out of the type R hatch than the R32. The Type R has something like 200hp at the wheel and the R32 has something like 240. the R32 weighs 3,409 pounds the Civic Hatch Type R weighs 2 654 pounds(This defines flickable). The Civic Type R has a higher power to weight ratio. The civic type R is a very balanced car, you cant even compare the suspension and chassis to that of the R32. The drivetrain is one of finenest in any car anywhere.
B16 NA is 160 HP I have no idea how much of it gets lost before getting the wheel on the vic. how much WHP were you running on the turbo B16 civic?

You guys can opt for a Civic Type R all you want. Feel free to try and import one, or move to Japan. Or you could walk to your local VW dealer and take home an R32. That alone makes this debate irrelevant. R32 vs. Civic Si? Ha ha. Right.

The R32 is also £6000 more expensive than the Type R. it comes out to $10,800 US.
The R32 costs about 30k, thats almost the price as a 350 Z, and RX-8, more expensive than the evo RS and WRX, two leaders in AWD sport compacts. Asides from the EVO RS all the cars have comparable 1/4 mile and 0-60 times. There are a lot of choices in that price range.

I have owned VW's since getting my license, and have watched their reliability and build quality deteriorate. Before getting my Civic, my dad asked me if I would consider a new VW and I said no. I wanted reliabilty and comfort for less money, and got it. I was also comparing a base VW Jetta to the base Civic and noticed same if not better interior quality and comfort, better fuel economy, and same horsepower rating for almost $5k less. One thing the Civic is missing is power locks, but we sell the motors I need to do that conversion at my job.

you had 220 hp at the wheel and you got kicked by an r32 which has 240hp. and your vic is only slighly heavier than 2000 pounds even a Lotus Exige is only 180hp and it weights slightly under 2000pounds and it compares to supercars in 1/4 mile and 0-60 specs. The B16 Turbo that you mention has more hp than the type R and is significantly lighter than one to? With those specs that car should be running with vipers and modenas. 220hp at only about 2000 pounds is crazy!!!!!!
My EX coupe has a top speed of 125 MPH and it was smooth. I'm sure the Type R can much faster.

There is one thing that I like about VW's and AUDI turbo engines, you just need to mod the chip and you unlock a crap load of hp. I know someone whose running 225 hp on his GTI and all he did his mod his chip.
I don't if modding chips on civics ever did much.

I like my VW.. it doesnt matter if no one else does. I'm happy at the fact that I barely see a riced one. Everyone seem to think that when you get a honda.. it's automatically fast...

No offense to anyone with Jetta here, but people with Jetta's are asses around IL where I live. Every Wenesday everyone around here goes down to Schaumberg for a car meet. Every time there is this guy who thinks he all bad. He's rollin a Jetta 1.8T, big front mount behind a really small black grill. He seriously walked up to each person in my crew and challenged them, making fun of our cars N stuff, It's funny tho, as soon as one of my friends said he would race him, and introduced his Talon (which is JDM 1st Gen Turbo) the guy backed off and said forget it. Ugh...I hate people who pick on smaller cars but wont step-up to a real challenge.
