The 2500 lbs car would run a 14.8 @ 100 mph
The 1500 lbs car would run about a 12.5 @ 120 mph
Then if u had a 5 lbs car with 200 hp you would run the quarter in 1.866 @ 800 mph. Wouldn't that be fun...you'd have to go in a major diet first.
I would say:
EX>LX
DX>LX
EX=>DX
I am new here, so im still "wet behind the ears". Anyway the DX is the lightest. EX is the most powerful, with the superior power to weight ratio and a better torque curve. With that said I can safely say its still a drivers race. I mean I beat a MODDED spec v with a "in need of a tune up" 01 civic DX. 0-60mph anyway...
ZX2's are way faster then stock civic dx/lx/ex's. You domestic haters fail to give respect when its due. Zx2 2500lbs 130hp/130tq Close ratio 5 speed, they have quite a bit of pep in their step. They weigh less, they have more hp, and more torque. Their build quality may leave something to be desired but they will get you from point a to b like any other car.

I think he got 1/4 mile and 1/8 mile mixed up, I can understand 15.8 in the 1/8 for one.

Hahahahaha you are to funny, just cause a DX may be lighter it isn't that much lighter to make it faster than an LX or anywhere near equal to the ex.

HAHAHA cause 4 hp would meen everything in a race.

You sure a DX AND EX is a driver's race I had a poor launch(because I wasn't racing),
I able to catch a dx and pass it before third gear. He had one one those angular mufflers on his car(I don't think it gives any horses), it was a white coupe model. I've checked the weights on the DX LX and EX are they really that significant. I mean what if the driver is 20 pounds lighter are we gonna start taking that into account to.

.....no,you aren't an idiot for that reason.(too many reasons to mention)
You are just "right" all the time.

It's like you go through threads quoting things people say you don't agree with and make a big deal out of it.I can see that you have no life other than this site.Do you have a woman in your life?I think you need some.Chill out dude.

I have a question though. How much of a difference does the auto vs manual make? I heard the gearing was setup to make the cars perform equally, but really doubt it. So, take a DX auto vs DX manual and who would win? I know if the driver in the manual can't drive he would lose, so make them equal drivers.
On the thread topic..... In a highway race, I give the advantage to the Civic because even my wife's Volvo 740 wagon and my friend's old Subara Impreza wagon stomped on a modded ZX2.

I guess its not easy so easy to drive a manual car fast. In terms of 0-60 would an automatic be just as good as a manual? 0-60MPH is all about constant acceleration. if your not accelerating your loosing time. With a manual car we must be loosing some time when shifting, at least I do.

04civicvp: lx/dx drivers are not always the better drivers. ex's still have a marginal advantage over lx/dx's. One thing I forgot to mention before is that an EX has a shorter gear ratio than lx/dx's which contributes to acceleration.
auto vs. manual is a big difference. Rarely will the auto ecu take the car up to redline ... nor does an auto tranny shift quickly. Auto trannies also shift slower than a good driver can shift. Not to mention it is only a 4 speed with very long gears
nindoo: I think you mean 0-100km, right? ... or 0-60 (62)mph

also if you would look most of the stuff I do say is right. And please let me know how that is an idiot remark. I do believe the only idiots in this world are the ones that are just out to call others idiots. Hmmm seems very familiar don't you think?

So its not a driver's race between a dx or an ex.
Nofriends are you being biased because you have an LX, or you've raced an EX in a straight line.
What's faster a Mazda 3 or a Civic EX?

i/h/e, good tires might make it a driver's race ... ;P
fyi, my friend's 4 door 94 gsr with i/e was dead even with a mazda3 hatch with i/e(h??) ... raced until like 110
not sure which model hatch it was ... (I'm assuming there is more than 1 engine trim for the mazda3's)
