get off my ***

What is with people trying to initiate a race by riding your *** worse than richard simmons at a mooning contest? Is there some correlation between the amount of space between the bumpers, or should I say lack thereof, and your chance of winning a race?

Today I was on the way to work, and passed some guy in a previous gen accord going 5 under the speed limit in the left lane. This is another of my pet peeve's, and again, something on my list of offenses that immediately gets you into the "sterilize you when I become president" category.

I pass him, and then move over to go around a car that is properly going slow in the right lane. Immediately the guy in the accord speeds up and climbs onto my ***. Him and his stock accord, and his oakley wannabe sunglasses are going to race me. I don't realize that this is what he wants at the moment but that will become apparent.

Of course I could be all wrong about this. Maybe he was riding my *** to get a close look at my tail lights, since any form of race would make them viewable only from a distance.

This point I'm pissed, because he quite honestly is probably 2 inches from my bumper. And I'm not joking. So I accelerate, move over and get out from in front of the *** jockey.

I get stopped at the next light, which is crappy, because it tends to be a very long light, particularly when there's only 2 cars waiting for the cross traffic light to turn green. I have no desire to discuss any words with my new found friend, so fortunately even though the top was down I had the windows up.

Enough time passes at the light for an army of one legged nursing home residents to cross the crosswalk 10 times over, and our light finally turns green. The guy actually has revved and now launches. I don't launch, preferring not to waste the 1000th of an inch of rubber on this guy. I roll out, flooring it, and pass him as I'm finishing first gear.

Yay for me, I feel so special I could take out a previous gen accord. Now get off my ***.

I have the rule book. It states:

1. No car that is less expensive than yours may ride your ***.
2. Trucks do have the permission at any time to ride your ***, reguardless of price of car.
Subsection - a. Truck = V8 or above.

I dont *** ride for fear of brake checks, but I will stay 2 or 3 car lengths back and repeatedly flash my brights until they move if they are blocking traffic. If im getting tailgated for no reason, then ill tap the brake lights twice, then after that they are gonna get a serious brake check.

Tailgaters have thier own checkbox on the census around here. I'd brake check 'em but the Vic is only about 2 months old... that and there have been some nasty accidents lately involving civic's and SUV's where the SUV literally ran over the top of the Vic as it rolled in response to getting hit.

Back when I had my truck, though, and my plate-steel rear bumper with a trailer hitch welded and bolted to the frame, I'd brake check everyone who got on my tail. Ended up killing a few cars that way when the shiny metal trailer hitch ball goes into the engine compartment and damages stuff... Biggest thing I've ever brake checked was one of the little U-haul trucks... Jacked that one up nicely. I've not pressed charges on any of the several accidents that happened like this, there has never been much or any damage to my truck aside from knocking some silver spraypaint off my used-to-be-chrome hitch ball. I just tell the cop I thought I saw a critter in the road.

I hate when someones on my *** too especially on the highway but hey I get them back by taking my foot of the gas and letting my car slow down by it self until they start beeping the **** out there horn so then when they are trying to pass me I go faster to catch up with any car that is in the next lane and a ride beside them so the person that was on my *** dont have nowhere to go... The worst one was this truck now that **** was like rite on my bumper and I was going 65mph so from 65 I slow down and brung him down to 45mph yeah he was cursin the hell me but I aint care the end lol.

Yeah what the hell is the deal with the dumb *** guys in the trucks!!! It always seems to be some some A-hole in an F-150 wearing oakeys. When ever these jerkoffs's see me on the free-way they cut through traffic just so they can ride my ***. I usally brake check the hell out of them so they can buy me a new RSX when they total my hatch. Thats if I survive Oh well in a rear ending accident the person that rear ends the other person is always the one at fault, and I have full coverage so give me your best you damn rednecks!!!

Anyone ever get on a two lane road at a reasonable speed, a CONSTANT speed. Then have somebody with an on/off switch for a throttle make like they are attached to your car by a big rubber band? (speed scary fast up to your bumper then just fall back a ways then do it again over and over?) Some girl in an old f-150 and the most oblivious expression on her face did this to me for about 20mins once.

Yeah, it's even worse when they've got a bit of go-power and REALLY come screaming up on your bumper. I used to drive a truck, and it didn't bug me because if they were stupid enough to hit me, they'd have one hellova trailer hitch and a lot of nothing to plow though, with the Vic, I'm quite a bit more wary....

I think every vehicle sold in hampton roads has the on/off switch for the throttle.. Either that or a button on the dash, push to go, let off to engage the ABS.

Don't you guys hate it when you're on cruse control, going a little over the speed limit in the FAR right lane, and then some dumbass comes up behind you and instead of getting on the other lane to pass you he decides to tailgate you? And usually there's barely anyone on the freeway, 'cause it's late at night, and the other two lanes are empty. Don't you also hate it when there's traffic and usually you can't go "fast" 'cause there's CARS(plural) in front of you but theres always an idiot tailgating you 'cause your going too "slow?" Like, how do they expect you to go "fast" when there's other people on the streets? SOme of them try to get on the other lane and pass you but they always end up getting stuck behind another car, 'causing them to switch lanes over and over again. That $hit is so annoying. People need to learn how to freakin drive. They're not the only person on the damn road!!!

^^^ i just laugh when they switch lanes and pass you up, but then their lane gets slowed down, and they can't get back over, so they end up even farther than they started.

When Trucks and SUVs tailgate me I slow down 5 mph. If they continue to do so, I take it down another 5 mph. They either A) realize im slowing down because they are tailgating me, and they back off or B) think they're Suburban is God's Chariot and try to pass me. At that point I down shift and pace em as they ride in the opposing lane gunning it. Not racing them just accerlating and shifting at about 5000. They usually pass me because I stop accerlating at the speed limit. But I get my satisfaction knowing that they spent about $3 in gas to get infront of me.

I just don't like the idea of brake checking something that could total my car and drive away with a dented bumper. While my car is crumpled in the ditch

Ifs its another car tailgating me I'll brake check them if they don't respond to that I'll start slowing down. They can pass me if they want I'm not gooing to get into a pissing contest with all these rednecks/high school kids/soccer moms on the road.

Something I would really like to see is a vehicle weight classification system for moving violations. I think someone speeding in a 8,600 lb Suburban should be faced with a much steeper fine than someone speeding in a 2,100 lb CRX. Its obvious that a SUV or Truck speeding or running red lights is MUCH more dangerous to other people than someone in a lighter car say a geo metro or CRX. I think this should be applied to ALL moving violations. Speeding, neglagent driving, wreckless driving. Tailgating in a SUV should face a MUCH steeper fine as the 60-0 braking distances of these SUV is rivaled only by modern trains.

LOL... reminds me of my old Chem teacher in High School.

If anyone Went to El Dorado H.S. in Placentia, ask Ob about his anti-tailgating mod.

Basically, this guy had a fairly old RSX, and was sick and tired of people tailgating him on the freeway because he drives more or less at the speed limit. He finally got fed up enough to wire in a switch on his dash. He just had the switch tap into his brake lights, and voila, instant brake check without actually hitting the brakes. He used to keep it on and see how long it would take them to figure it out.

Just to mess with them.... Something I found out when I was learning how to left foot brake. apparently theres a small gap between when you press on the brake, the tail lights turn on and when the pads actually bite in to the rotors.... Meaning You can just slightly press the brakes to light up the tail lights but not enough to actually engage the brakes. It works best if you down shift right before you do it so that you are accelerating away when your brake lights are on... it really confuses them.

I too have this problem. Why are the ones driving SUVs always people who are alone in the car? Is there some secret game of let's see how much gas we can burn per capita?

I don't usually brake check people, I usually downshift to 4th on the freeway. That way, if they do hit me, it won't be as hard as if I had braked. Actually, something I learned after my suby got totaled by a guy running a red light is, no matter how minor the accident, request an ambulance. If you don't (at least in my case) the insurance company doesn't take your injuries seriously.

Obviously, the goal is to not to get into the accident to begin with...
