On the contrary, the term "header" is far from slang, and differs greatly from an exhaust manifold. An exhaust manifold is one lump collection pipe...all of your exhaust from all 4 cylinders would flow into the same space. This robs an engine of power by producing lots of backpressure...not all your cylinders are firing at once, so exhaust from one cylinder is running into the exhaust of another. What is found on most cars, including 7thgens, are correctly named "headers". A header provides each cylinder with its own exhaust conduit, and either flows into two seperate pipes, then into 1, or has all four flow into 1. Hence 4-1 headers and 4-2-1 headers. Each cylinder's pipe is bent so they are all the same length, so all of the exhaust arrives at the same time in the downpipe, thus eliminating backpressure. Simple car stuff guys.Mike
