Now before you raise the BS flag, which some of you will do no matter what I say, hear me out. Me, FAT_MAN, and pimpinhondacivic were out last night cruisin' around, when this RSX (not a Type S, the base 160hp version) starts coming at us, so of course I want to play too, so I floor it (me being an automatic LX Sedan). We think it was just the base RSX, and maybe even the automatic. Anyway, as I was saying, I stand on the gas, thinking we have no way in hell of staying ahead of him, especially with 3 people in the car. But low and behold, we stay ahead of him, this being on a 2 lane highway most of the way. I was quite surprised actually, as was FM and pimpin'. At the end, I stay ahead because I took the inside lane of a sweeping right hand turn on the highway. He wasn't gaining on us at all, we got up to about 150 km/h I'd say. Anyway, go ahead and put up the BS flags, because 3 of us know what happened, and none of you do

And btw, he was trying, because he went to try and pass us, really gunning it from a ways back, I was already doing 120, so I wasn't having any of it.

Nothing at all, it's bone stock, except for tightening the throttle cable. That's why we were so surpirsed that we beat it, because we could tell he was really trying. I think he got embarassed cuz then he backed off

lol this is like the time a guy in a fixed up LX 4door wanted to race me..dood keeps reving his coffee can at me ... i didn't even bother.. just look at my mod list.. so at the green i launched it just for fun.. then drove normal after shifting to 2nd..

Topend wise, there is really little difference in acceleration between all the Civic chassis varients. I had a simalar thing happen on my way back from San Diego. I just hung with this RSX the whole way. It seemed to really **** off the kid too, like Oh no! the little civic can keep up with you at 100+. Off the line though, the kid would have creamed me. If some one was board enough to find out what the 100-120 times are of all the current Civic based chassis you'd find that there is really little difference. 0-60 however is a different story.

Exactly, and we were already going 120 km/h (~75 mph) so the acceleration difference like you said is almost non-existent.

Yeah, you know it isn't always just the car that wins the people *cough*DC5-S*cough* There were turns, and he was being a coward and lifting off on the turns, that's really how we won, he just wasn't a good driver, and could only go fast on the straights.

when i drove my friend's base 5 speed rsx.. it was going 93mph when it redlined 3rd gear..

I drive a Cl-type S, and 90% of cars on the highway pass me cuz i almost always do 80km/hr - doesn't mean i lost to them... and sometimes i just slowly accelerate to keep up with them but not to pass them whilst getting good laugh as to how hard they're engine is screaming while mine is just humming.. i'm sure they think they beat me too.

Again, you are not understanding the context of my posts. Read them more carefully from now on, I obviously have to dumb them down for you. I said HE, not the car, HE couldn't keep up. Does this mean that the car isn't capable of it? No, not at all. But what this does prove is that the DRIVER wasn't capable of passing us, thus, it is still a kill, because I was still the one in front. And he was a young guy in his early twenties, so he was definitely racing.

According to your theory, any car that has more hp will automatically beat a car with less hp, so essentially no matter what anyone says, it would be BS to you. I think you should take a look at the rivalry between the Z06 and the Viper. The Z06 has less power, but will tromp all over the Viper around turns.

Also, driver input plays a very vital role, whether you want to admit to it or not, it's a fact you can't dance around.

y'all are retarted... there's no reason to call bs on this story, i believe it happened, but DC5 there are reasons he could have "killed" the RSX in an auto LX
- for one, he could have been pacing majarvis. for example, if someone is stupid enough to go as fast as i am and stay in front of me, i'll pace them all day so when we hit that speed trap, he'll get snagged instead of me (works all the time btw)

DC5 don't flame the kid cause he posted this story, it's pointless and gets good threads in this forum locked, dumbass we all just want to share, so check your attitude at the door my man. he's not saying he can beat an RSX with his LX...

Then what's the point of even posting this "kill"? First of all, I'm not even sure this can even be considered a "kill". Maybe the RSX driver was just hesitant to follow you around corners at those high speeds. That means it's NOT a kill if the other driver wasn't racing you...

Because of threads like this, civic owners think that the civic is faster than the RSX. Even if it's the base...

As for your picture you posted, I can do 85 mph hour in fifth gear in my civic, then just press teh clutch in and rev it to where-ever i want and at the right speed take a picture,
