duuuuuuude. I want your interior! That is awesome with the DC5 wheel and the EP3 seats. Looks great. And the exterior is nice and clean too.
I've been wanting some s2k/ep3/rsx seats for so long but my poor *** can't afford them haha

Thanks, I appreciate it that you like the ‘all red’ … It’s my goal to change the interior of my EM2 in ‘7th gen Type R’ style. It will be a mix of facelift EP3, DC5, facelift EM2 and ES2 parts. It’s hard for me to explain in English, but you guys will see soon enough.
I also got some plans for my exterior in the future, but at this moment I want to focus on my interior. I’m also just a student, so I don’t have much money to upgrade my EM2.
My taillights are from a EDM facelift EM2 … I also like them a lot, way better than my old pre-facelift ones … but still, I also love the USDM facelift ones (without the clear turn signals). A buddy of me who lives in Belgium has them, they look very clean, but they were also very expensive since he needed to ship them from America.
Hahaha, that’s funny … I think they are ‘alright’. I prefer to have USDM non-folding mirrors, because they are fully painted and are very unique in my country.
Thanks
But I got a question for you, is a Integra RSX the same as a Integra Type R DC5? In my country both cars were never sold by Honda. However, a few people do have a Integra Type R DC5, because they bought one in another country, but I’ve never seen a RSX.
Hahaha, thanks I guess
Thanks … and like I said before, I’m a big fan of the USDM non-folding mirrors you guys have.
Thank you, I totally agree!
At the moment I’m trying to sell the black ones, because I don’t really like them … they are just to big and fancy in my opinion. I bought them a few years ago for my (red) Toyota Celica (AT180), which I don’t have anymore. The black rims looked great under the Celica, but not under my EM2. As soon as the black rims are sold I’m gonna buy those OEM Honda 16 inch Enkei EP3 (look) rims, I just love those rims and they are a must for my ‘Type R’ style
Thank you, I’m very proud to have them in my EM2 since they are hard to get and very expensive here in the Netherlands.
Hahaha, I disagree, in America EM2’s have:
- Runninglights, which is illegal in my country
- A way better looking centerconsole with armrest
- USDM non-folding mirrors, fully painted in the color of your car
- A way better/luxurious looking stock radio console
- clean taillights without the clear turn signals
I really wish I could have all those American parts in/on my EM2.
Really? I didn’t know there are differences between the dash of a USDM and EDM EM2
Well, only the EDM EM2’s with the VTEC engine have them (the ES version). My EM2 is a ES version. There are 2 types of EM2 in my country, the LS and ES version. LS is the basic model and the ES is more luxurious. ES has the following extra stuff:
- Sunroof
- Headlight washer nozzles
- Painted door grips
- Auto climate control
- SOHC VTEC engine (125 hp)
And to finish this long post (really, this is the way we post reactions in Dutch, hehe) …
I also want to thank everyone for his reaction. I really appreciate it. You guys may not know, but the EM2 is a very rare car in the Netherlands. Honda sold only a few of them and most of them were the basic LS version. However, the EM2 might be a very unique car, almost all Dutch Honda owners don't like them. In the Netherlands and in Belgium most Honda drivers own a EG, EJ or EK. 7th gen Honda’s aint very popular here, only the EP3 is respected.
I heard the EM2 is very popular in America, so that’s why I decided to join this forum, and to be honest, I like this forum and the people here already. It doesn’t matter where I look, EM2’s everywhere! I also see a lot of ES1’s (which we don’t have in my country) and ES2’s (which are only driven by old people in my country). This place is like heaven to me!
Thanks again guys!

some of your wish list is possible. for example, if you have reasonable body shops in your area, you can dismantle the folding mirrors and have the triangle piece painted to match the car. in the usa we have something like that for the hybrid civic sedan where the whole thing comes painted. its not too hard to take them apart and have the corner painted.
running lights, do you mean low intensity parking light? you have the same headlamps as we do so its probably already wired to have that if you get a usdm headlamp switch or make your own separate switch for them.
they do make armrests that bolt to the driver seat for the 01-03 civics, but yeah the 04-05 has a large console arm rest. that is not really possible to fit due to size differences.
radio console would also be an easy swap. same with the tails if you like the all red version.

Thanks, it’s always nice to hear when people respect my interior.
In the Netherlands Honda never sold any 7th gen Honda with a tan interior. All Honda interiors are black, just like mine.
I guess I’m born in the wrong country, because it seems so easy to get a white Honda in America. In my country white (older) Honda’s are rare and even if you can find one it’s way to expensive.

That’s true, I can paint the triangle piece of my mirrors if I want, but since I want to have a white car anyway, I’m going to save for a full respray in the future. But USDM non-folding mirrors are way cleaner in my opinion, so you guys may think I’m an idiot, but I will replace my mirrors by USDM ones eventually.
I don’t know, with running lights I mean those lights that are behind the orange part of my headlights. They say that those lights are always burning on an American EM2 (while the engine is running), while in Europe we only use those lights to give a turning signal and for emergency (you know, while both turning signals are blinking at the same time).
I don’t want a 2001-2003 armrest, because it will mess up my EP3 seat. But are you serious about that the 2004-2005 center console with armrest won’t fit in a 2001-2003 EM2? I don’t understand, because I’m pretty sure they are the same size. In the Netherlands a 2001-2003 EM2 has almost exact the same interior as a 2004-2005 EM2. The only differences are the seats and the speedometer, the rest is exact the same.
A few months ago I bought my Kenwood radio, so I don’t really need a USDM radio console anymore. But … if I ever find a cheap one, I’ll sure buy it, just to ‘have it’.
Swapping the taillights seems indeed easy, but if you want to swap 2001-2003 lights with 2004-2005 lights, one plug won’t fit. I also encountered that problem, but it’s really easy to solve.

just be sure you get the usdm non folding COUPE mirrors. the sedan ones will not fit.
i see what you mean about the second amber parking light. you guys are not allowed to have amber on unless its for a turn signal. it makes sense because that will make it easier to see the signal. its a fairly simple thing to do if you are not worried about the legal aspect. the bulb socket is a 7443. yours may be a 7440, so in that case you would need a 7443 socket and harness. then just tap the top parking light power to the lower round parking light. im not sure how your car is wired back there. it may already have a 7443 socket but with a 7440 bulb. in which case all you need is a 7443 bulb. you wont know til you look back there. (7440 = single filament, 7443 = dual filament).
the 04-05 console might fit in the center, but it will not line up with the plastic trims in the front below the radio.

The 03 is like a weird hybrid cross between the 01-02 and the 04-05

Thanks for the advice about the mirrors, I didn’t know there was any difference between Coupe and Sedan.
Yeah, I meant the second amber parking lights. However I don’t need them on my EM2 … well oké, maybe in the future. But since it’s illegal in my country I can’t use them anyway … it may even create dangerous situations on the road. There only fun for car meetings I guess …
I’m really not happy hearing the 2004-2005 USDM center console with armrest won’t fit in my car. I really want it (and fit and look awesome at the same time).
I’m going to open a new topic for this problem and post some pictures … it just has to fit!!!
Now I’m even more confused

yeah the 03 was a strange year. it basically looked like an 01-02 on the outside with different tail light, but more like 04-05 on the inside. slight changes but nothing as major as the 04-05 got with completely new front end parts and more interior. the 01 and 02 each had different lower console pieces under the radio, same with the other years. you can fit the 03-05 armrest console just fine, but you will have a huge gap in the front where it meets under the radio.

01 they put out the new civic
02 they realized there were some problems
03 they threw on some new stuff, and realized that it still didnt sell
04 they added new styling to attract more customers
05 they threw in the towel and said screw it, we're gonna make a completely diff civic
That's basically the timeline for our 7th gens

Gearbox is bitter, I still think they're the greatest generation of civics.
I think the EDM and USDM/CDM dashes are the same. I don't see the difference, can you point it out Sl33py?

only downfall is the Auto trannies. Without that blunder fogging evereyones glasses, it's plain to see how awesome a generation these civics are.

But I got a question for you, is a Integra RSX the same as a Integra Type R DC5? In my country both cars were never sold by Honda. However, a few people do have a Integra Type R DC5, because they bought one in another country, but I’ve never seen a RSX.
I'm a bit behind on the conversation, but thought I'd answer the question. Yes, the RSX is basically a lame version of the type R DC5. In Japan and elsewhere they sold the DC5 as a Honda Integra and in America they sold it under the Acura nameplate as an Acura RSX. The best we have the the RSX type-S, but it doesn't hold a candle to the Type R. The type R is on a whole different level than anything sold here.
Here's a pic of the RSX base for reference.

I never noticed but you’re actually right about that. In my country all 2003 EM2’s have a facelift speedometer and other seats, while the exterior is the same as from a 2001-2002 Civic. I always wondered why ...
I don’t have any problems with that of course, but I really hate Honda for creating a slightly difference dash for the 2004-2005 EM2’s. Because now I can’t have a nice and clean facelift center console with armrest … well, I can … but I don't want a nasty gap between my center console and radio console
It really screws up my interior plans
What? Another thing I don’t like to hear! So you’re saying a 2003-2005 EM2 has also better suspension? Maybe that’s why my EM2 is so uncomfortable … every time I drive over a speed bump it feels like my EM2 is slammed …
02 they realized there were some problems
03 they threw on some new stuff, and realized that it still didnt sell
04 they added new styling to attract more customers

Well … the 7th gen Civics aint that bad. I do like my EM2 a lot, it’s a good looking and save car with enough luxury. Besides … the 7th gen Honda’s where the last Honda’s made that also looked like Honda’s … of course I like 8th gen + Honda’s, but they look so different compared to older Honda’s.
I disagree … I really like 7th gen Honda’s, it’s only to bad Honda made some really stupid mistakes with the 7th gen …
Hahaha, he indeed is … I also think that 7th gen is the greatest generation of Civics.
And yeah, I also want to know what those differences are.
I’ve never heard of any problems with the automatic transmission until yesterday when you told me. And are you talking about the fogging of the headlights? Because I really agree with you about that, my EM2 also has that problem.
A few months ago I went to some company who specialises in car detailing (they said). They promised me they could solve the problem for € 70 … well … I’ve paid € 70 to those damn ^!%$#! … but my headlights are still a mess
So next summer, I’m going to try it myself, because many people say it aint that hard and if I do it the right way, my headlights will be as new
Indeed and besides that, in my country they don’t sell many aftermarket parts. I don’t really mind, because I don’t like aftermarket, but for those who do like it’s really hard to create a unique and good looking EM2.
Of course, I’m very happy that I can use a lot of nice parts from Type R Honda’s, like the EP3 and DC5. But I guess I was just very lucky to find all those rare parts.
But I got a question for you, is a Integra RSX the same as a Integra Type R DC5? In my country both cars were never sold by Honda. However, a few people do have a Integra Type R DC5, because they bought one in another country, but I’ve never seen a RSX.

Aah I see, I understand now … so the RSX is the basic version of the Integra Type R DC5? Although it aint a Type R, I really like it … it looks great and I assume it doesn’t cost as much as a Type R.
I agree with you, although I won’t mind to trade my EM2 for a white FN2.

maybe another thing to do is the gauge cluster swap from the 03-05 ex into your car. requires some rewiring, but otherwise plugs in and fits like the old one. they have two styles one with blue ring (sedan) and one with red ring (coupe). the clusters are full LED with white numbers and red needles and color rings. much nicer than the old plain ones. there is also the mph and kph version depending where you find it. and you have to find one with similar mileage to your car.
