You're in my head. Been thinking about painting mine since the covers sold are too big. Did you use engine enamel paint? It looks nice.

Nope,
Just used the same Rustoleum high temp I've been using.
Engine enamel is high gloss, and that's not what I wanted.

Sorry for the lack of updates folks.

Installed the Megan test pipe, and since then been having a slew of problems.
One of which, is a dead alternator.
Car's been sitting in my garage this weekend.

I don't even know what that does.

Is it a fancy pipe that you smoke before taking a test that helps you get better grades?

Got one of those and it needed a o2 simulator. Kinda pita, but it changed the sound and response of the exhaust.

Nope, it's basically a straight pipe that bypasses the cat.

It's called a test pipe because it's for "testing" purposes only, offroad use.
Not road legal.

It has nothing to do with passing emissions.
And you'll never pass any emissions with a test pipe

Tragedy has a good point. At some places, if your car has OBD2 they will just hook up a scan tool and see if you're throwing any codes along with a possible visual inspection. They do this to make the process quicker. The average driver is not smart enough to disable their check engine light

Autozone no longer checks it.
I went to Midas, and their diagnostic guy wasn't in.

Got it fixed, alt fuse under dash blew when alt blew.
Got it replaced, everything's working good now.

Stock kitty back on for now, CEL is gone.

Thanks, mine are way too faded to restore.

Anyways, something else I got done.
Rerouted both my cruise control and throttle cables.

So much nicer without them hanging about.

Clean looking engine! I didnt even think you could reroute the throttle and cruise cables.

The whole car is looking good! Like the painted trim. Was thinking of doing mine with plasti dip also. Think ill move that up on the priority list looks a lot better!

Thanks man,
I didn't know I could too, till I tried it.
The throttle cable is such a stupid concept.
It goes from the middle of the firewall, all the way to the right strut, up over the intake and engine, then back down to the middle where the ITB is.

One thing I forgot to do, when I had cruise control throttle cable off, was to take off the cruise control and paint it.

Anyways, time to replace both my battery terminals.

Also, update on the plastidip.
Seems to be holding up well, even during wash.
It's a bit sticky and tacky first couple of days when it's still curing, but afterwards, it's smooth and durable.
When it gets soapy, my wash mitt just glides over, doesn't rub it off as I expect it to.
One thing, don't rub/mess with the dip when it's still curing, one mistake I learned :P
