car overheated

car overheated

okay i just recently (2 days ago) did a lil maintance at home, changed

motor oil (3.5 qrts)
tranny oil (drain not flushed) and ( 3 qrts )
spark plugs (ngk)

i was sitting in traffic and i looked at the cars temp and it climbed all the way up to HOT. i was so i turned up the heat and it went back down again.
why did my car overheat? is it kus i didnt put enought oil or tranny oil?

I say check if the thermostat is stucked at closed position.

acutally, i just had the exact same problem.... except turning up the heater didnt help for me. found out that the upper hose was hot, but the bottom radiator hose was cool along with my radiator core. my thermostat wasnt opening. decided to drain the fluids and after i did, it was running just fine again. perhaps a build up in the radiator and jammed the thermostat.

but yeah, check your hoses to see if they are up to temp

Get the thermostat out and put it in hot
water it should open close to 90degrees.

the bottom hose should not be getting very hot or the radiator is not cooling the fluid properly.
