Re: 02civicsi02
That motor is to expensive for me. I have finally decided to take the k24 route. I was going to go with the k24a2 but it still is alittle bit expensive so I am going with the k24a1 and vtec killer setup (k24a2 rocker arms, valvetrain, and cams in the k24a1 head). That with a kpro tune will put me over 210 whp with kiddracing header, apexi noir, and cai. After all that later on will turbo with bout 8-10 psi running bout 350 whp or so on stock internals. I am hoping to get the motor the end of this year.

I have done alot of research and found out that k24's respond very well to bolt ons kinda like v8s do but not as much of course. And the torque in the k24's are great. The k24a1 puts down 138 whp and like 140 trq on a dyno and its non vtec. Just with the bolt ons and the k24a2 cams, valvetrain, and rocker arms in the k24a1 head and kpro tune I have seen 2 people put down 225 whp and 212 trq. But some others have put down 210 whp with 204 trq. And after that will be turbo and the k24a1 is the lowest compression k series that is made. It takes a turbo very well. I know someone that is running 15 psi on stock internals for over a year. So if i boost bout 10 psi I will be round 350 whp and bout 300 trq maybe. This is a very safe setup, I know a couple of ep3's with this setup and they love it and its there DD.

Ya its pretty amazing that it can do that. The k series is the only motor i think that can even do the vtec killer. The funny thing is that the only thing you need for the swap for it to just run is the rear crv tranni mount and 310cc injectors. The k24a1 can run off the stock ep3 ecu. The only thing with that is you need to run a stock cat cause with a race header with the stock ep3 ecu running the k24 it will run to lean.

Ya it fits perfect. All the k motors fit in the ep3 with no clearance issues. And the shifter isnt as bad as people think it is. I like it, its pretty comfortable. I have drove a couple of 8th gen si's and they are not as far up as the ep3 but it still is comfortable. And the 8th gen would be a very good car especially since the k20z3. It can reach over 210 whp with bolt ons and no tune. It is a very powerful motor. It does have lsd but I heard that the lsd was not as good but its better than no lsd.

I would get an EP3 if the FA5 was out of my price range but how the price is now the FA5 will be in my price range when I get my license. And I'm looking for a car with a little more power.About 200 hp is good enough for me.

When I get the motor I will be swapping it in when I get it. When I get the motor I am also going to get the crv rear tranni mount so that I can do it. And by the time you turn 16 the price of the 8th gen will drop cause that time there will be a 9th gen. And the 8th gen si only has 175 whp bone stock. The 197 hp is to the crank not wheels but nothing I/RH/E cant do lol.
