Sway bar

PROGRESS SWAY BAR: CIVIC 01-UP (REAR ONLY) Price $199.00
Progress Anti-Roll Bars improve lateral stability without stiffening normal suspension movement. Anti-roll bars minimize body roll, which stabilizes the tire contact patch for maximum traction. That's important because all of the weight and power of your vehicle is transmitted to the road over a mere handful of square inches called the tire contact patch. Most FWD street cars have moderate understeer (aka "PUSH"). The sway bars are designed to improve overall balance by the use of proportionately stiffer rear bars. The car will have a "neutral" feel, with a gentle push at its limits. The opposite of push or understeer is oversteer. Cars that exhibit this characteristic are said to be "loose" and are prone to spinning.

Is this worth it. What I mean is do they help?

Yes, anything bigger than the crappy 12mm sway bar we have will help tremendously!
A rear sway bar is the best suspension mod anyone can do and should be the 1st mod to do before shocks/springs.
19mm is probably more appropriate for our Civics (RSX-S is also 19mm and costs less I hear). 22mm is more agressive and will give give our cars oversteer. Although I don't have a problem with that, some people might. 22mm will work a lot better on the heavier RSX but our cars are 200-250lbs lighter than an RSX-S and the tail will come around with a 22mm one. Just talk to g6 Civic owners with 22mm sway bars. I think the 19mm is perfect for g7 Civics and will make a huge difference because for every 1mm you go up in size, the difference is not linear but geometric and something like to the 3-4th power. If I remember correctly the difference between a 14mm Integra sway bar and 19mm bar was 750%, 22mm was about 1300%. There 's a formula that I have written down somewhere..

Hey guys I am curious, would I really feel a difference with a 19mm bar, even though I dont have any suspension upgrades?.
I am also looking at doing an upper strut and lower tie bar, I am not sure if i would feel a difference then either.

Yes, well most people would.
The bars tighten up your suspension by linking the weak points of your cars.
The sway bar takes our car and gives it more of a neutral steer. Our cars understeer (push) so they correct it.

Go to www.clubrsx.com and search for the keyword progress. They have a deal there posted. You can get both front and rear sway bars fro Progress for something like $250!!! If this deal stays solid, then I might buy them as well. The Progress rear sway bar comes with a tie bar too. Oh yeah, did I mention polyurethane bushings throughout as well? Very much worth it IMO. 27mm front and 22mm rear...

What modifications will you need to make, to make it fit the LX? Do you just need the endlinks What about the bolts for the brackets. Anyways i just need to know cuz my friend wants a Type S sway bar on his LX

Yeah, did you see this: DIY: 2001 DX LX sway bar

Basically... Custom bracket, some welding, some drilling, and you're all set. The Progress Group's rear sway bar comes with a tie bar that you can use as a pattern for the holes too. Then all you need to buy are the end links and you're all set. If the RSX's endlinks are beefier, then I'de get those instead of the 7th gen's endlinks. I don't know if they're different or not, so I'll probably just get the RSX's. That's why you should get both. I did some calculations a while back and it came out that a 22mm sway bar in back would make the cars handling almost neutral with a little understear. However, at the time I didn't know that the rear is a solid bar and the front is a hollow bar. I will have to recalculate to get the perfect balance, but I think that 19mm might be more correct for our cars if you chose not to upgrade the front sway bar. I don't care though, 'cause I'm getting the both front and rear sway bars from Progress.
