Rep Power: 0 plastic strut bearing to replace metal?
I just redid my struts and am going to get it aligned but it sounds like I'm not suppose to have the plastic bearing mounts? I have a 02 civic ex coupe. It had metal bearings on it but the ones I ordered that came were plastic so I put them on. Should I change them or will they work?

ask for the 2002 bearings. that might help.
some dealerships still have the old plastic ones for the "2001" still in stock

my front end makes a slight clunk noise when i turn the steering wheel..also, the front struts make a clunk noise ...ALL the time..
I checked the plastic donut bearing, and both sides are intact...
can these plastic donut bearings make noise if they are NOT broken??
I heard about indexing, but the top mount will only go in 1 way into the 3 holes..
and yes, i have done a boat load of research on this site...I can't seem to figure out why they are clunking

Re: plastic strut bearing to replace metal?
Does anyone know if the 2000 Civic can suffer from this same issue? I have a thump/pop that occurs every so often but can't track it down. All ball joints are good, axles are fine, just replaced all motor mounts and both wheel bearings. The clunk/pop usually happens after the 1st start up of the day and with the 1st turning of the wheel as the car is in motion. Then after that, it is just random. Sometimes while driving on a rougher road, you can hear a rattle.. Sounds kinda of like when the motor mounts were bad... just not as loud.

Idk if it's just my area but when I was ordering parts fr my car I called several different dealerships so I can get the plastic bearings for my progress suspension. Every dealership said they had plenty in stock.

Re: plastic strut bearing to replace metal?
When you guys say "plastic bearing", are you talking about the actual ball bearings or the strut mount itself that where the bearings is mounted into. Because I can hardly imagine plastic ball bearings holding up against all that stress.
I intend on replacing my bearings but I don't know if I should replace the entire strut mount assembly or the bearings only, are they easy to replace?
Thanks
