Will These Rims Fit?

So i decided to get some new rims for my civic. It's an 04 Civic Si-G, lowered on Tein H-Tech springs. The old rims were 18x7.5 Konigs, +45 Offset with 215/35/R18 tires. The new rims i want to get are the R1 Racing Drifts in Hyperblack. They only come in a 18x8, +40 Offset. 8" wide rims are not very popular on civics, so i'm not sure if they will fit or not. I know they will stick out 11mm more then my old rims and that i will loose around 1mm on inner clearance, but i'm just wondering if they will fit properly and how you guys think they would look.

Re: Will These Rims Fit?

ive never been a fan of tires that wide, i think once you did it, you would regret it. its pointless to have that on our car anyway, we have front wheel drives. those tires belong on s14s and other similar cars. i think its a bit overkill and its nothing you really need. you can style your car way better than that.

Re: Will These Rims Fit?

It's only half an inch bigger then what everyone else runs. As long as they don't stick out past the fenders and wheel wells, they could be 10" wide for all i care. It's when you get into rims that stick 2 inches past the fenders that looks retarded. I just don't know if they will stick out past the fenders or not, and that's the answer i'm looking to get.

Re: Will These Rims Fit?

i dont think they will stick out too far.

i have 7.5 with +42 offset and mine are pretty much flush with the fenders, maybe even a little inside. so if you go 8 with +40 offset so lets just do the math.

1 inch is about 25mm, so youll be about 13mm further out than i am, but -2mm because your offset is less...you should be sitting out about 11mm (or 1.1 cm or 3/8") further than i am. thats not bad at all, you will probably be flush with the fender.

most guys on here with 17 or 18s are a +40 to +42 offset, so you should still be under half an inch further out than anyone elses car you see pics of on here.

Re: Will These Rims Fit?

I've decided to say **** it with the 18x8's. Ordered up a set of Work XSA, 18x7.5 with a +45. Same size and offset as my last rims. This way I'm not worrying about fitment and clearance issues. Plus Works "Work Black Chrome" is a stunning colour for a rim with a chrome lip on a blue car.

Re: Will These Rims Fit?

can you post a url of the exact rims you got? i want to see them. what did you go with for the rubber? and how much in total?

and yeah its your best bet to go with what you know and not risk it. i personally think it looks disgusting when tires sit fat out past the fenders. especially when youre driving behind 'that guy' who has the wide sitting 4 tires on his car.

Re: Will These Rims Fit?

Well i don't want to risk being "that guy". I always make fun of "that guy"....therefore i would be making fun of myself. Which is not cool or funny. I haven't decided on rubber. I'll be going a 215, not sure if ill do a 215/35 or a 215/40.

Those are them.

Re: Will These Rims Fit?

It was either the XSAs or the XD9s, but i like a polished dish with a darker colored spoke.

These are the two colors i was considering in the XD9s. I don't like a polished spoke on a civic.

Re: Will These Rims Fit?

they should fit fine....the 1/2 inch will split...1/4 inch to the front and 1/4 inch to the rear. add 5mm to the 1/4 inch and thats how far it will move outward from where it is now.

As i previously posted, i have decided to no longer go with the 18x8's. Going to use a set of Work XSA or XD9's in 18x7.5 with a +45 offset.
