225/40/18 rub?

I want to get some axis spiders 225/40/18 setup. Does anyone have that size setup and will it rub? I want to get them from nextwheels.com and they give you free springs. I will be droping my civic. please advice on any rubbing. I dont want to go with 215/35/18 because i had that setip twice and both times I bent multiple rims.
thanks

depends on how low you'll be dropping your civic. you'll be safe with a 215/40/18 tire and an 1.75 drop all around

I got 215/40/18 and i've only knicked my rims twice in the same spot. I had my rims for over a year with shitty Louisiana roads. If u still want the 225 silvrbreeze has that setup and he's dropped. Look in the louisiana forum and ask him if he is rubbing.

Peace

i think offset plays a major role in this, as well as rim width.

i beleive your rims need to have like 45+ mm offest to properly fit a 8 inch wide wheel with 215. to ride a 225 i think you need like 48mm offest? PM rijowsock.

I have 18x7.5 rims with a 42mm offset and 225/40/18 tires. It will occasionally rub when I drive over dips at 70+mph or turning the wheel all the way to make a u-turn.
I'm also lowered 1.75" in the front and 1.50" in the rear.

I have the same size and when i turn right it rubs sometimes but like steering wheel completely turned. When people get in the back hits the fenders everybump but other than that they are always fine.

i think it also depends on the width of your rims. I have 18 x 8 rim. I have been told that an 8 inch wide rim will require a +45 mm offset to be perfect.

Rim expert rijowysock has told me i have to go with a 215/35/18 becuase of my width. I have also been told this by two people at tirerack.com ( roger@tirerack.com and Riley@tirerack.com )

What is the offest of your rims? how can you guys run 225/40?

not sure offset, but i think my width is only 7.5" (not sure on that either thought)...but i definitely don't rub

of course i'm only lowered like 1.3" (as claimed by H&R), bout 2 fingers gap up front and 1 finger gap in back

i would trust what rijowysock says, he has gone through a lot of wheels, but in my recent experience....no more than a 1.5" drop and that size will work with no problems
