Rep Power: 0 Quick Help : Honda Offered to Fix My Breaks for $280?!
I just took in my car for a 30,000 mile maintenance. The car is in warrantee.
They just gave me a call saying my breaks are worn out.. Honda standards are 2mm, I have 1.5mm. It's going to cost $279.99.
It sounded way too much, is this something everyone's paying?

Honda says 3 years.....37K miles BUMPER TO BUMPER!! As long ast it's not something blatant that you did, they need to cover it. My fiance's accord is 6 months old and the brakes were squeaking. They resurfaced the rotors and it was covered. Make sure they actually know that you still have the warrantee. Sometimes their computers won't show it. Yesterday, my fiances bill came to $212 bucks. I told them its covered. The woman kind of mumbled a bit and then changed it!! They'll squeaze any penny they can out of you so be careful.

Rep Power: 0 Isn't it 3 years or 36,000 miles for the warranty? I think you should still be covered under that. In any case, that sounds like a lot to pay for that service.

Rep Power: 0 280 for brakes is expensive. rotors and pads are alot cheaper than that. most likely all is needed is pads and some labor.
now if it was 280 for both the front pads & rotors and back drums brake work, its kinda pricey in my book but an okay deal.

Rep Power: 787 Pads aren't covered under warranty. I had mine replaced at 20k for $200 at the dealer and I thought that was expensive.

Rep Power: 0 Yea.. I learned my lesson today.. I paid $450 for 30,000 mile checkup.. I said no to the brakes. I asked the lady why the warranty doesn't cover it and she told me that "it's a ware and tare (I duno if it's spelled right), so it's not covered"
My friend told me to go to Sears and it'll be a lot cheaper. Thanks guys for the tip..

Rep Power: 388 I really don't understand why people think brakes are covered under warrenty. I mean when you get tires, are they covered under warrenty when they get bald? I mean come on...they wear down, that is what they are supposed to do.
Don't go to sears either. You will get crappy pads. Find a place you trust, bring them the parts, and have them do it, if you don't want to do it yourself. Pads - $50-60 shipped for Hawk or PBR and they are 10x better than OEM. OEM pads will cost like $20 and install them yourself.

Rep Power: 388 that is probably the pad, but it might be the rotor. You will have to ask. Look in the Wheels, tires, brakes forum. You can get brembo blanks with pbr or hawk pads for less than 150. don't buy EBC pads!!

Rep Power: 0 Go talk to Jeff at ImportRP.com... He hooked me up with PBR pads and Brembo blanks, which I love so far. A little dusty, but worth it. Also, do the work yourself. It's not hard, and that way you know it's done right (or if it's not, at least what's wrong with it!)

Rep Power: 0 no the brake linings are the pads that touch the rotors, you can probabbly just change the pads front and back, the front pads shouldn't be too tough, last time I replaced them on my last car it took about 20 minutes, and It is pretty easy.
