Tire and wheel help

I have an 03 civic with si wheels I need new tires and currantly run 185/65/15 I was wondering will a 205/60/15 tire work with my wheel? The only reason I ask is I have a friend with a set almost new sitting in his garage that would sell me them cheap but i want to make sure they will fit my wheels. thanks

Re: Tire and wheel help

they would be 0.9% slower than your stock tire size otherwise they're fine.

Re: Tire and wheel help

you CAN do 205/55/15, if you go with a 205/50, they're consider low profile by alot of tire manufacturers, thus, should something happen to your tire, i.e. premature wear, cupping, seperation, it may not be covered. Plus you have more choices with a 205/55

I dont care about warrenty I am buying them from a friend I dont think he will give me any but I will ask

"they should fit but 205/50/15 is the largest recomended size ur just gonna have huge tires on them lol oh and speedo will be off slightly too."

thats ok I dont mind I am guessing it will just show me going slower than I really am so that fine.

Re: Tire and wheel help

The 205's will be 2 1/4" taller, profile will be approx 1/8" more, you'll spin approx 74 revs less per mile (distance, not speed). At 60mph your new reading should be roughly 55mph. All this is theoretical and will depend on exactly how the tires are built...
