Rep Power: 0 Best 15" tires for smooth ride!
I have stock rims with some cheap, crappy tires right now and all my car does is shake and shimmer all day long. The ride is horrible and I will never own another pair of my current tires ever again. I think they are Firestone or something cheap like that.
Anyway, I am seeking a SMOOTH riding tire that is QUIET and also good for all season use.
What are some quality tires out there for such a demand? Do they even make a tire that is actually smooth for our cars?? The stock tires and these other ones are just crappy! Harsh ride, noisy, bouncy, pure junk! I am so tired of my current ride it's terrible. I need to get some GOOD tires before winter so I am doing my research now to plan and wait for sales.
Thanks for any help.

Anyone else? List your favorite tires. Remember, for a smooth ride, not so much for performance. I don't race my car nor have a desire for speed. It's a Civic for God's sake!

Rep Power: 787 I have bridgestone turanza LS-H on mine. They are nice tires, very quiet, good grip, and all weather. They come stock on the acura TL. The firestones on our cars...there is no comparison they're terrible.

Ok, our tires I believe are 185/65-15. Now, can you put a wider tire on there like 205's for more surface area or do I need to stick with the current specs?
I found these BTW:
http://discounttire.com/dtcs/findTir...d=006735&ar=65
They sound nice! But still looking.

Rep Power: 0 I think I just answered my own question. I did some research on sizes and came up with probably the best tire you can put on the Civic. Check them out!

Here is a good site to compare brands and ratings:

i don't know about the h4s, but i had the yokohama t4s, and they sucked ***. they wore out reallllly quick and had rolled over easily. i just bought the triple treds for my car about 2 weeks ago. so far i love them, but i haven't really had a chance to use them in any kind of weather. i bought them in 195, so a little wider, but i don't know how wide you can go. my mom has had the triple treds since january or something on her camry, and they kicked *** in the snow and rain. discout tire was running a special on the triple treds, but i don't know if they're still doing that.

mine are the 16" V-rated flavor, but i imagine they are nice in 195/60/15H as well. a good all-around tire with much less noise than OEM.
maybe i'm just tired, but i couldn't find them on tirerack. maybe they don't sell them anymore.

Rep Power: 0 Here is what I've decided on:
Goodyear Assurance Comfortred - 195/60-15
Awesome tire, only $75 at the web site mentioned above! Thanks!
p.s. My stock tires were 185/65-15. You can go up to what I am getting, I've checked. (For 15" rims)

Rep Power: 294 to put it this way..the tires that come stock are the best tires u can get for the car...the cars are tested with different tires and honda for the 03-05 has chosen the bridgestone potenza tires which from thier tests had the least ammount of bouncing, and most comfortable ride...i have pirelli p6 tires and they are very nice in gripping the road in all conditions except on the highway they love to grip so much that it follows road grooves sometimes making the car go back and forth

Rep Power: 257 In three days i am ordering 205/60/15 potenza re950, stock size was 195/65 and so far i think they are a best buy at $85. I read a bunch of reports/tests and for the price you cannot beat them. They have excellent wet/dry/snow grip and they continue to grip after tread wear. Go to tiretrack and read the tests they usually use like a 3 series beamer or something.
^the potenzas re92s are not the best tires for our cars, they are the best for marketing a car though.

Rep Power: 0 Um, everywhere I read the stock size is 185/65 which means you can only go to a 195/60 or you may have problems. I think the 205's would be out of the 3% tolerance ratio for the rim. But, it's your choice. Just letting you know.
I still like the ones I mentioned. They got much better ratings than the Potenza. I need a tire for all year round which includes snow sometimes. The Potneza did not do very well in snow I have been reading. It's ok if you live out West or a warmer climate.
It all boils down to a personal opinion in most cases. This is why I read customer reviews more than anything. If the majority of the people love them then they must be ok. The Goodyear ones had like a 4.5 rating while the Potenza had only a 3.8 rating overall. It also depends what you are looking for in a tire. Again, I want a smooth ride more than performance. This is why I am looking at the Goodyear Assurance Comfortred - 195/60-15. I don't see another tire which would ride this good to be honest, at least from what I've been reading.
I think I've made up my mind. Now I just need to find a place to install and balance them if I purchase them online. Hmmmm....

Rep Power: 257 The stock size is 195/60/r15 i read it off my tire!
I might go with 205/55 or 205/60, but i am not sure yet. I am thinking of going with 60 cause i am not planning on lowering anytime soon and it would be a smoother ride.
If it all about personal opinion why wouldn't you wanna read tests performed by professional drivers, and then form your own, why would you listen to a bunch of random people. I do aggreee that if most of the buyer ratings are the high then the tire is prob a good tire, but you also got people who do not know what they are talking about and say the tire sucks cause they ran off the road a week after buying them. Most of what i have read about the re950s says they are great in the snow. There are only a few reviews by buyers that say they were terrible in the snow, but somepeople really cannot tell cause all tires slip in the snow, so again i would recomend reading professional tests. Anyway i really do not care what you buy it is your $$$.

Rep Power: 0 Unless they changed the stock tire size mine was 185's. Personally, I would not go any wider than 195's. Your point was well taken about the professional tests, I agree but I also read consumer opinions as well. I do look at the whole picture. You may want to call Honda regarding the proper tire size and how big you can go. I may do the same!

Rep Power: 309 in the 2004-2005 civic years, they changed the tires to 195/60/15
back in 2001-2003, we were stuck with the 185/65/15 crapstones. so after 2003, Honda decided to actually put on decent tires when they made that facelift on the 7thgencivic.
i have 185/65/15 and subbed it for 195/60/15... rides perfectly fine and good. makes me feel less worried after switching out the firestones.
i recommend 195/60/15 or 205/60/15 as they both offer the same but the 205 looks fatter. both sizes doesnt alter your speedo as much, thats why there great sizes to choose from.
check out the tire calculator on this site too.

Rep Power: 0 Thanks for clearing that up. I knew they either had to switch tires or rims, whatever. My 02' had 185/65. Anyway, no big deal. I am sticking with 195/60 when I do get some.
