Arrow 215/50/17 on non lowered Civic?

Has anyone ever used 215/50/17 tires on a non lowered Civic? These are the same size tires on the TSX and are 1" larger in diameter than the factory tires. I have some ordered and am about to try them on a 01 EX sedan. I hope they don't rub. I tried doing a search but couldn't find anything.

BTW they are going on 17x7" wheels with 40mm offset.

And before anyone asks the reason I want this size is I have no plans to lower this car ever, and I want as little fender gap as possible. Also the taller tire will help the ride quality too.

man u gotta drop ur ride... and if u planing to get body kit or lip kit... thats gonna look worse....

and... 215/50?? dude thats gonna make ur ride look bigger 4x4... cuz height of tires... just get low profile and drop 1.5 wit springs...

your gonna have major wheel gap no matter what without any drop..

but with a 215/50/17...im guessing you'll get 4-5 finger gap all around?
205/50/17 would've been an alternate choice

#1) never said it changes gap

#2) tire calulator results:
215/50/17:
sidewall - 4.25 in
diameter - 25.51 in

205/50/17 tire
sidewall - 4.06 in
diameter - 25.12

the difference of revolution per mile is 12.39... whichever tire is getting more revo per mile must have a smaller wheel diameter overall

#3) even if your upgrading the "width" of the tire, the overall diameter will still increase slightly

I agree that lowering the car makes a big visual difference. But this is an everyday car and I don't want a harsher ride from low profile tires and lowering springs. Thanks for the advice, I plan to mount them this weekend.

The 17's will not rub at stock height. They should rub when your lowered some as well.

damn this thread is old. but never heard of anyone using 225/55/17... thats like suv size to me. but im guessing they can rub when you bust u-turns or corner hard enough so the chassis will flex and rub the front fender wells.

225/55/17 CAN fit on certain 17" rims. i believe 225 can fit on a 7.5" wide rim... correct me if im wrong. if they fit, yes they can fit your civic as long it has a 4x100 bolt pattern and in the offset area of 42-45mm (can go beyond or lower, these are just offsets that are most common and safe to use)

yeah that wont help your wheel gap! i mean it sounds like you care about the wheel gap so why not do it the tried and true way with lowering springs! Not to mention your car is gonna be so high off the ground that two people could have sex under there!

no i dont care about the wheel gap because theres like 5 feet of snow everywhere and i needed new tires so my friend gave me these tires. i just want to know if the tires are going to rub anywhere. maybe wherever you live there isnt snow and ice and curbs buried under snow but here there is and i'm not stupid enough to lower my car in the winter. and if i were going to lower my car i wouldnt go with cheap springs i'm get nice coilovers but i'm not to worried about that until the snow and ice goes away.

yep this is old but I had to say that all you need are 45s I've seen them on a few cars around houston and have stock height. It looks perfect imo. Just don't put 55s on that would look so stupid
