Powdercoat Opinion on Volks

Okay, I guess I'm having a difficult time selling these Volks. So I decided to get them powdercoated. I have a ssm civic coupe dropped with B&Gs. You can see my ride height in the picture. I wanted to get some opinions on what color I should get for my wheels.

I was going to get gloss black with a polished lip to give it that custom LE-37 look. Or should I just go all gloss black? Or I can do all dark gunmetal with no lip because a lip would just look like all the other LE-37.

I even thought of the idea to maybe machine the whole wheel and give it that raw alloy look like the 2000 SI wheels. That would be unique, but still can't picture it well. Might look like the GTP kinda.

So I'm gonna be redoing my wheels to perfection with a new look and hoping to bring it back up to near it's true value. Will these color choices make it look good and give it a possible high resale value in the future? You guys can add your opionions of colors, but just don't make it too typical. If I'm gonna spend over $400 for custom work, might as well give it a custom look.

i think the value would stay the same as if the rims werent powdercoated. but some suckers would offer more if its so dam clean.

IMO, i think the dark rims and silver is a good combo. gun metal is pretty over done. i'd go with an glossy black or something similar. but the polished lip would be ever sicker. look at "dizwickdcivic*" ride, hes got that black and polish lip on his silver..

question... are you going to have to remove the volk sig sticker from the rim?

Yeah, I have an extra set of black and white volk stickers sitting in my room. You wouldn't think the value would go up after I get all the curb rash smoothed out and making the wheels looking brand new with a custom look? I dunno, after the work, I would advertise the wheels as immaculate after a custom powdercoat job. People advertise Volk 17s for over 1500 all the time. We will see.

Strip em', satin finish them raw, clear coat them and call it a day.
Satin leaves a dull shine that you can't get with any sort of powdercoat or paint... it looks cool as hell. But if you're gonna do anything, then keep the wheels. Its not worth putting money into them and then selling them.

I say do them orange... but I'm biased

Wait, is the satin finish the raw alloy machined look I was talking about in 03 EX Civic wheels? I was thinking about that. But I'm scared it might be too blinging...haha.

Oh, and your orange speed masters are tight. I just don't race, so I wouldn't have a need for crazy rims like that. And I don't want to attract racers in the street with my automatic tranny coupe.

No... The Si wheels are machine finished. Thats a bright shine. Satin doesn't bling. It looks dull unless you've got light directly on it. It may also be known as "Brushed Aluminum". Think of when you go buy paint... you can buy gloss or satin. Satin has just a little bit of reflectiveness to it, but not a lot. You do it with a scotchbrite wheel on a polishing jack or with ultra fine bead blasting. Scotchbrite will shine more than bead blasting, blasting them will also leave a little rougher texture. It looks really cool, I'll see if I can find anything finished like it. Really what I can think of is like stainless steel appliances... those are usually satin finished. It just looks like raw metal.

So how do you guys think it will look with the satin or raw metal look? I was thinking about it, since it hasn't been done. I'm pretty sure Boiler likes the idea, since he thought up the color.

If by doing this, it might cost me less to do my wheels since the machinist won't have to send the wheels to a powdercoat shop. Hmmmm...this is looking pretty good. And all he will have to do is apply the clear coat after the machine work.

Nice zippo, I think...haha.

Satin finish would not be to Bling Bling..

I would say out of all the colors mentioned the Satin would be the best option, and lest expensive.

IMO black rims just don't work on anything but blacked out black cars. Once you start rolling, you have steelie's with no hub caps PERIOD, might as well get steelies and ditch the hub caps. But I guess a lot of people like the "I lost my Hub caps" Look... i dunno

rijowysock will become famous soon enough
ok.... i got some volk 17;s that im selling for 900 and i get no snags.. have some 18" GTP and no buyers.. took me 5 months to sell a set of GTN18" for 1500

id say... get them cleaned up.. but powdercoat them a "normal color" silver.. or such... if u do black gold etc etc ur just decreasing the appeal of them and less buyers would be interested in them.. also

a polished lip is a LE-37 and urs r TE37 so keep the lip coated too.. that way u can use ur decals.. w/o decals people will be like why pay more... i know their stronger but... people wanna see the name when they buy.. anywho..

You can get them off ebay. search for "volk decal" or "Volk sticker" Some times ppl sell it, and sometimes ppl don't.
