AEM Big Brake Kit Installed-I got questions!!

Hey everybody,
I had my AEM big break kit installed at Midas today. I really can't tell a big difference yet. They barely fit inside my 17's but there is still decent clearance between the rim and the brakes/calipers. There are some things that somewhat worry me about the install.
1. I'm wondering if the rotors are on correctly. The slots are moving out towards the front of the car. I've looked at some of the pics of this brake kit on other cars in member rides and it looks like the slots are pointed towards the rear. Some of the other threads showed that my slots are pointed the right way. Is this a big deal? Does it even matter?
2. I hear a bit of faint grinding which is slowly going away with time. I hear it when the wheels are rotating slowly and it goes away when I significantly increase speed. I had the Midas manager test drive my car and he said it is normal. The rotor is black and he said that it is the outer coating coming off and getting "broken in". I can see that this makes sense, but I just wanted to be sure."
I've been overall unimpressed so far with the aem pads and rotors. What do you guys think?

Rep Power: 356 Big brake kits are pretty much worthless unless you are running in to heat issues, where the added mass of the large rotor would allow the brakes to absorb more heat. other wise you probably will not have any improvent in braking, except by using a better pad.

2. when the pads are brand new they are so close to the rotor that i wouldnt be surprised by the sound.
are they crossed drilled and slotted
did u abide by the instructions from AEM to get up to like 40 os so and then slowly apply pressure so u dont slam on them and warp them immediately
i had them, i was amazed personally, i could be going like 30mph, and be like 5-10 ft from the white line at a light, and prss the break and stop on a dime on that white line, the braking power/ability was greatly increased IMO, but them again i didnt have the black ones, i had a 99-00 brake kit, made to fit of course

Rep Power: 0 When you said that they can only go on one way, I don't understand. I've seen them on two ways.
One more thing-midas had to grind down the caliper a bit to fit with the adapter. This makes sense since the instructions said that I may need to do that so that they fit together. Did any of you guys do this?

Rep Power: 559 plus if they put them on backwards ur **** wouldnt be rollin, bc the caliper wouldnt have ben able to clamp, the rotor would have been extended out farther than it was supposed to

Rep Power: 559 shouldnt look like this, if u have the rotor on this way the center of the rotor pushes the rotor out and the caliper is not there to clamp

Rep Power: 0 What I'm saying is that I feel that the rotors are on the wrong sides of the car-the one on my driver's side should be on the passenger said and vice versa. that would change the direction of the slots...

Rep Power: 0 actually, no. If you visualize it, the slots are moving towards the front of the car on the passenger side. If you move it to the drivers side, the slots are now pointing towards the rear of the car. That's what I'm saying.

you can put rotors on reverse...
meaning the wrong sides,not fliping them backwards
the big brake kits make a huge difference in stopping imo. I have the tenzo R big brake kit. ive had it for 1 1/2 years. no complaints. i havent even changed my pads in that long and i have pepboy ones. the rotors have more surface area which means less heat and more grip. less pedal effort, and less wear on the pads cause of less heat...
and YES you DO have to grind some of the caliper to install the adapters. I did this myself when installing them. its a very little amount that needs to be shaved. I used a file. its very easy and affects nothing on the caliper what so ever-

Rep Power: 559 and the passenger will be the other way, there for if u were to take the passenger off and put it on the drivers it would look the same as the picture u show

Rep Power: 0 THANK YOU!!!! Someone finally understands what I'm talking about. I can't believe people thought that they would flip the rotor backwards. Anyways, my rotor points in the same direction as yours. The weird things is that in all of the pics in magazines, the slots point to other way. Anyways, I guess I'm wondering if it really matters.

ALL THAT needs to happen is u have to smooth the back of the caliper out so that the braket sits flush.

Rep Power: 0 I have worked at a tire/brake/oil shop for 3 years and here is what I know. The slotted rotors ARE designed to have specific sides. You can kindof compare it to the directional tire process. The slots are angled to use the rotors’ direction of rotation to enhance their performance, which makes the rotors side-specific with left and right side rotors.
