Unhappy 205 or 195

Hey everyone, I got a tire question . I did a search and came up what I was kind of looking for, but didnt answer my question fully. I have the stock ex steelies and hubcaps. Its time or almost time for new tires. I dont like the firestones on the car , so heres my question. Is anyone or does anyone know if a 205 will fit? Will it rub because of the size? Would 195 tires be better for the stock steelies? Either way want name brand should I go with? Would any aftermarket tires fit, Ex: Nitto, etc.? Thanx.

The size Im looking at is about 195/65R15 or 205/60R15.

If your not going to change the wheels I wouldn't go with 205's.

195/60-15 or
205/55-15

205 is not too wide for a 6 inch width wheel. In fact it's probably the widest you should go on a 6 incher.

Your speedo will be off a lil' more with the 55 but as long as the speedo isn't off more by 3% you're still safe.

EDIT:

195/65-15 is fatter than stock. You sure you want a fatter tire?
205/60-15 looks stock.

JMO, a lower profile tire would look better. And 195/60-15 is where it starts.

The stock ones I have now are 185/65R15. How is 195/65R15 fatter? The 65 is the height from the rim to the tread, correct?

You'll be fine.
It will just have a wider foot print on the pavement.
Don't go wider than a 215 even with rims or you'll rub when turning.

No, actually a wider tire slightly increases the overall height of the tire. Don't you guys use the tire calculator? A 195/65-15 would make the speedometer a little slower because the overall height is taller than stock.

Okay, Dad votes for 195/60-15 with SBem2.
*It is wider in the tread but almost exactly the same diameter as your factory tires
*It is available in an all season brand that a lot of people on the forum like: Bridgestone Potenza RE950
*It is available in a high performance brand that a lot of people on the forum like: Yokohama AVS ES100

If you don't want to spend in that $70-$80 per tire price range, think about the Sumitomo HTR 200 for performance or Falken Ziex ZE-512 for all season. How's that?

I'm using 205/60-15 Potenza 950 on my stock rims. These tires are the amazing! No rubbing at all, and the ride is great.
