2025 Honda Civic EM brake activated on own

I was driving and stopped at light. Some how the EM Brake got activated and when I tried
to go forward the rear wheels locked up. I had Honda service look at the car because the car now has a thumping sound.
The tech reviewed black box and said the seat belt was off and the emergency brake activated.
This was not true, I’m 100% sure seat belt was on and I didn’t activate the em brake.
If the seat belt was off it would have made a warning sound. I’m 100% certain I did not activate the emergency brake.
The dealer believes both things happened at the light. Now my car sounds like I’m in a helicopter
I will escalate this thru Honda, it is not logical. Any help or ideas. DennisMiller7227@

Re: 2025 Honda Civic EM brake activated on own

I know in my 2018, if you have brake hold on and you're completely stopped while the car is in drive, then when you unbuckle your seatbelt, it automatically engages the e-brake and keeps it on even after you put the seatbelt back on. However, if the car is in drive, e-brake is on, and your seat belt is on, the e-brake automatically disengages when you hit the gas.

as far as your car sounding like a helicopter, a couple probing questions. Does the frequency change with vehicle speed, vary with engine RPM, or is it a constant thing? If it's vehicle speed, could be brake, hub, or tire related. If it's engine RPM, then it's engine related and probably coincidental. If it's constant, well, yeah, I got nothing there.

Yes the noise increases as the car goes faster. I found out there is a flat surface on the tires from when rear wheels locked and it took about 100 yards to get off the highway.
Maybe the helicopter reference should be a thumping sound. Have escalated to Honda Corporate vs local dealer. I’m optimistic for a solution the car is really well equipped.
