Timing belt & water pump on a timeline or just mileage based?

Have a 2001. Did timing belt and water pump about 8 years ago at 100k. I only have 140k on the car now but the owners manual says to change every 7 years or 110,000 miles. Should I consider doing the pump and timing belt again?

no, you don't need to.
But rubber deteriorates over time.
Just be prepared, for if it snaps, you will need to do the valves. If damage great, it could include pistons among other things.
engines are interference, meaning pistons will literally kiss the valves bye-bye

The moment it stops making noise is the moment is just got really expensive (assuming valve bender engine plus a tow truck fee)

If you think a good mechanic is expensive, try hiring a bad one

but the owners manual says to change every 7 years or 110,000 miles.
Doesn't the manual clarify time/mileage with a line like "whichever occurs first"?
Your belt is already older than 7 years........

Rubber deteriorates over time, and you've been informed of what can happen to the engine if the belt fails...........

The ball is now in your court.
