Auto tranny issues
When I'm stoped at for instance, a light...when it turns green and you push on the accelerator and you push hard to get a quick jump, the trans feels like it's holding you back and sliping, it does it on dry pavement so it's not the tires, but it feels exactly like it fees when tires don't grip cause it's wet. Now if I don't push hard on the gas and roll forward normally, it doesn't do it.
Took it to Honda, they tested the gears and none showed to be slipping and the fluid was delt with at my oil change.
I know Auto Honda Trans. aren't great, but the car has only 16k
And it's only when the gas is applied quick at a complete stop such as a light or stop sign, and it appears to have done it more offten in the colder temps, since I live in Chicago, the cold is constant now.
If anyone knows mabye why it's appears to only be slipping when at a full stop and then a hard push on the gas, let me know. Honda keeps telling me it's fine, I have a 100k warently, so I guess if it blows, it's technically free.

Hey CivicGirl482. I can't believe it, but I actually did some research in this forum. lol. I needed to know some info about our auto trans because it seems almost everyone who has an automatic has problems with it. I have a 2003 Civic LX (automatic).
I found some threads that you can look at. Transmission Jerk is a thread that has links to other threads. You should check it out.
I read some of the discussions and most of gear slipping happens in cold weather. I live in Hawaii (yup, waaarm!) and I haven't experienced any problems... yet. Some of the users also mentioned that they did the DIY throttle adjustment. When they put it back to stock, the shifting went back to normal.
Hope this helps. Good luck!

I think the Auto Trany's in this car just aren't built tough from what I'm hearing. I have heard so much from people with Auto's about how thier failing.....wish I knew stick. Anyhow your so luck to live in Hawaii, don't you feel far from the rest of the country, I'd feel distant, but I'd never get tired of the weather...later.
The thing that's bad about living in Hawaii is the cost of shipping parts here. They seriously charge you an arm and a leg cuz they'd have to fly the parts down here. Oh, and about doing engine swaps or turbo installs. I don't know anybody down here that's good in doing engine swaps or turbo installs. I prefer to go to a company like HASPORT, but we don't have the convenience to jus drive down to Dallas, TX.
I'm seriously thinking about changing my auto trans to manual... but only if the auto trans goes out. I should've gotten a manual in the first place
If you know or heard of someone that switched their trans, please let me know. I got some questions to ask.

it only has 18K miles on it, what could be wrong with it>??? the only mods ive done are a cold air intake and a catback, which doesnt have anything to do wiht the tranny? maybe is it becuase of the cold weather?? does anyone else have this problem???

Maybe take a look at the tranny fluid level and color. I think the owners manual tells you how to properly check the level. About the color, it should be a reddish and not smell burnt. If its blackish in color or smells burnt, you may want to have the fluid flushed out and re-filled with a new tranny filter installed. FWIW
