hi. i got this problem recently, my car horn doesn't sound anymore after i press the remote lock button twice. it used to sound after pressing twice to confirm that it is locked. ive read some post and forums regarding maybe it is stucked in valet mode, tried the procedure on how to exit but still nothing happened. but also i found out that after pressing the lock button from the remote, there is a flashing red light in the dash panel which i didn't notice before.

please help me, i badly need those horny sound to make sure that everything is secured and locked...

Where exactly do you see this flashing red light?


State the Year, model, trim level of car?
What country is your car from?

Factory or aftermarket remote?

Does the horn work when you push on the steering wheel (airbag or whatever) like it's supposed to?

Hood latch switch is bad?

the red flashing light is just beside the fuel indicator in the instrument panel.
i have a civic 2004 vti-s from philippines. no im not using an aftermarket remote, it's the original one. it only have 2 buttons, lock/unlock..

everything is working fine, its just the horn when i press the lock twice doesn't sound, it used to be working few days ago.

ive tried re-programming my remote already but still end up the same. i think of trying the panic button, but my remote doesnt come with it.. it only have 2 buttons, lock and unlock buttons...

When you lock the car using the remote fob, do the parking lights flash?

yes the parking lights flash 3 times, and a red light from the instrumental panel starts blinking. but the horn doesnt sound on the 2nd pressing of lock button. i want to reset to the default settings, press lock button once, all the doors will lock and with flashing lights. then pressing it twice will make the horn sound.

i recently found out that all the warnings, like seatbelt, etc. onboard was gone, i mean it's like in a silent mode...

please help....

In our cars that might be a clue the multiplex control unit (MICU) has failed, but more testing should be done to figure that out for certain.


Systems affected by MICU might include dome/courtesy lights, brake warning light on dash, air conditioning compressor stops working, partial wiper function, warning beeper, keyless/power locks

but everything is perfectly normal, it locks and unlocks the door...

ABS problem occur, I used external jumper to start, after start the car, but everything is perfectly normal, it locks and unlocks the door.. horn sound missing

I have an '08 EX Cpe. wit Premium sound system... this does not resolve your issue,...

But,
When I lock and set the factory security system. (lock button twice). the doors lock, parking/driving lights flash, and horn sounds... just as you expect.
Then if you look inside the led in the gage cluster is flashing and also one on the audio system is flashing.
