Slow Accelerstion Civic 2005 EX Sedan

My car, Honda Civic 2005 EX, is taking long time to accelerate, for last few days. Car ,literally, struggles when it moves from a stop—in a stop sign or red signal. I can also feel the shake it when gear shifts.

I changed oil, cleaned fuel system and rotated tire but no sign of improvement.

What may be the root cause of this problem?

If you think a good mechanic is expensive, try hiring a bad one

No check engine sign.
I haven't diagnosed the problem yet.

Okay, I'll get it diagnosed and let you know.

Re: Slow Accelerstion Civic 2005 EX Sedan

Codes are a starting point

Low engine power? Misfire?
Transmission issue? Stays stuck in 3rd instead of shifting to 1st at a stop?

Re: Slow Accelerstion Civic 2005 EX Sedan

To rule out clogged cat, you could loosen the exhaust header bolts two turns and see if that makes a quick improvement besides the noise... Some people unscrew the O2 sensor but as costly as those are your better off not touching it unless you have too.

Also consider pulling air filter cover off and giving it a quick trip to see if that made a difference.
