01 Civic LX brake light issues

Come to find out both corner brake lights not functioning. However the spoiler mounted brake light IS working. Cruise control also not working. The fuse is fine. I replaced the brake light switch but that didn't solve the problem. Where do I go from here ?

TIA

Mike

Brake bulbs X 2

If any work your switch is fine.

Bulbs were already replaced. The 4 way flashers work so I know the bulbs are fine. Also burnt out bulbs wouldn't explain the cruise control malfunctioning. Something else is going on I just need to know where to look.

Re: 01 Civic LX brake light issues

Your turn signals are separate bulbs and circuit. Signals are single filament. Brake/Tail are dual filament.

If tails are working (same bulb) then check for voltage when brakes applied at the socket and work your way back to 3 way junction point. Wire color = WHT W/BLK stripe.

The sharp tip of a 12 volt test light will allow you to pierce insulation of wires.

That junction is located in the drivers side rear side panel?

Don't have the ETM handy for the 7th gens.... but would imagine it would be in the rear area.

When I had the broken wire leading to markers & license lights on the trunk it was all on the passenger side

The 8th gens show it as near the C pillar.

From ETM, Connector 601 = 14 Pin, Gray housing, Right C pillar (coupe similar)

Re: 01 Civic LX brake light issues

Not to sound dense, but by right C pillar do you mean driver or passenger side?

Passenger, find the black plastic loom wiring cover affixed to trunk and hinge arm and follow it forward.
