Rep Power: 0 2002 Civic Ex Stalls Codes P1361 & P1298
Hello,
I am turning to you for some great guidance regarding my 2002 Civic Ex. Just last night the engine light came on and instantly the engine died. After sitting for a minute or two I was able to get her re-fired although she was running rough. She did smooth out but seemed to be underpowerd. I got my truck and trailer and towed it home and after a long cool down she started up and ran fine, for a short while, then the whole process repeated itself. I rented an OBD II from Autozone today and the codes I extracted were; P1361 TDC Intermittent Interuption
P1298 ELD
My question to you guys is; Is P1361 triggering P1298 and if I replaced the TDC sensor would that alleiviate P1298? Or should I start with the Electric Load Detector?

If you think a good mechanic is expensive, try hiring a bad one

P1361 is for the Camshaft Position Sensor signal had an intermittent interruption.
Recent timing belt job?
Wire connector came loose?
Timing belt still in correct time?
P1298 is for the ELD (just replace it), that's a real common issue by itself but normally does not turn on the CEL. Ignore it for now. The other code is your problem so figure that one out FIRST.
When you are ready, this bulletin has the part number and procedure for replacing the ELD: http://www.crvownersclub.com/TSBs/2005/05-006.pdf

No work has been done recently regarding the timing belt. Today I did install a new TDC/Cam Position Sensor and a new ELD. I have had no reccurances so far concerning the aforementioned problem. I pray I don't but if I do have more issues I will follow up so others might benefit from this thread. Thanks!!!
