2002 civic ex, Manual, front disc brakes.
Car sat on driveway, in neutral, for approx 2months. Started and ran car every week but never moved it. The other day tried to move car and it wudnt move an inch. S
tick shift shifts fine, when i try to drive in either forward or reverse i can feel the car trying to move but it cant.
Jacked up rear...both wheels rotate as they shud
Jacked up front...front pass side wheel is fine
Front driver side wheel moves forward and back only an inch. It feels as tho its knocking on something hard, like metal.
Ive checked the brakes on that wheel and they are not locked up. Any ideas anyone on what to be checking next.
Thanks

Re: Wheel/axle wont rotate
If the brake caliper isn't locked up it could be a wheel bearing, less likely would be the differential inside the trans is locked. You'd have to remove the knuckle to know for sure.

Just jack it up and pull the wheel. You should be able to see whats wrong. Sitting for a while it is likely that it is the wheel bearings, brakes could be stuck too...

If you think a good mechanic is expensive, try hiring a bad one
Re: Wheel/axle wont rotate
Most likely: The pads and rotors are rusted (stuck) together from sitting and not moving.
Common situation when cars sit for periods of time, even over just a couple days if conditions are right.
Give it hell, until it breaks free.
You can then expect to hear "chunk chunk chunk" noise when applying the brakes until the rust spots in the rotors are worn away....But if the spots are very deep, they won't go away on their own. Sometimes the rotors need to be resurfaced to get rid of the rust spots. (Also known as "lot rot".)
