the 01-02 updated part is metal now when you order, another member confirmed this already. seems like 02 some were plastic too. i got one of the early 02 when they were first available and im almost positive its plastic. still need to replace that when i get new struts. those tokicos dont want to die lol.
Will they Improve the ride or not Can the rubber be changed from the mount ? I've never opened it before

just buy the 01 updated metal bearings.
they dont really offer any more improvements that worth the cost.

I started this thread and I have still not solved the problem with the rattling, it just improved a bit but still there...I went to 5 mechanics, as recent as last wednesday and paid alot of money to change ball joints, bottom arm bushing etc but no luck...I really hope someone can help with this solution....
I changed the following:
1. Struts
2. Strut mounts
3. LCA,
4. Link bars
5. Rack ends
the only thing I have not serviced/repaired/changed is the power steering
Can someone please help with this?

rattling is not usually suspension components. If they rattle, they are pretty close to falling out.
something else is the culprit or something is about to fall out the car.
Also, some have found that the new component they just installed was actually defective and solved the problem after backtracking.

The emailed me back.
We do apologize for the inconvenience. Like we said, it wasn't in stock to confirm and that we had never seen a plastic.
We'll mail a prepaid return label, and get you a full refund.
Should keep it and deal with it ? I have no other option ! I dont want to pay over 100-150 to switch to metal 02+ bearings
I mean does this plastic part last for years?
Plus there is a thing that I want you guys to be aware of ... I have also ordered Tie Rods and there is Made is China print on the labels that they came with. If you want me to post a picture let me know

your original ones lasted a while, right? should be similar.
and the tie-rods - if they sell on the dealer, they might be under some quality control - just being from china does not mean they are bad. they do have good stuff from there also, since they will just keep the bad ones for sales internally or to other shady parts.
how many clothing do you have that is not chinese?

True - I went to Advanced Auto Parts and Checked it and The bearings are Plastic !!!!! Plus the Rubber was painted I mean they paint the whole part even the rubber !
However looking at is not enough to judge Unless if we find somebody that tried it and see what they say about it

Re: 01 Civic front rattling...I am fed up!!!!
According to the description of JALA, I have a similar noise that I hear around my left front strut. I hear that noise since I upgraded my stock struts to my tokico blues, but I only hear it on the left side and ONLY when the weather is cold (usually if I drive it in the morning around 7am or after 11 pm). I dont hear anything when the weather is hot. I would like to get any input for that mistery
Anyone has any input on that?

Re: 01 Civic front rattling...I am fed up!!!!
I want to change the strut mounts as well as the spring seats. Why are there so many parts listed on Majestic's site? Do i need to purchase the bearing in addition to the mount?
Thanks for the clarification.

I was having rattling issues like what the OP was talking about. I got some recall work done and the service advisor figured out the driver side strut mount nut needed to be tightened. After that, no noise. I haven't taken a good look yet but if I go to replace the upper portions of the strut (struts are new, 1500 miles) then which parts should I get? I don't mind taking the struts off but I have no desire to remove the spring from the shock.

To all you guys with mysterious front end rattling; I've been trying to chase the same problem and I think I found the problem or at least part of it. But first here is a list of what has been replaced so far:
Struts Mounts and Bearings (I have an 03 BTW)
Lower Control Arms with new bushings
Ball Joints
Outer Tie Rod Ends
Strut bar has been completely removed so that eliminates all of its linkages
Now here is what I found, and how to check for it:
You can clearly see the mount flexing when the engine revs. You can also see the rubber inner part is almost completely separated from the outer piece.
So check your mounts very carefully. I know for a fact that mount was good 30K miles ago, because I had it out, and no I have not been in any sort of accident. It just broke for no reason.
I'm going to crawl under and check the rear mount as well. I would not be surprised if that one is gone too.

Replacing the engine mount helped, but I still had occasional clunks.
The clunks were starting to get louder and more frequent until the other day; I went over a speed bump too fast and I heard the worst crash bang clunk sound ever from the left front wheel.
The strut mount had broken and the top of the strut had completely separated from it. The top of the strut was about 3 inches lower than the opposite strut.
I replaced both struts with Monroe quick struts and the car is much quieter now.
I guess I should not have used cheap strut mounts when I replaced the struts 2 years ago.
On a different note, Monroe quick struts give a much more comfortable ride than the KYB GR2's I pulled out that were less than 2 yeas old.

Hey Jala,
You've been at this a while so you've probably already tried this but I've had pretty good luck finding all the "rattles and knocks" in my car by pulling my car up on a few 1 inch thick boards under each of the front tires. I get my stethoscope out (3$ at harbor freight) and have a large neighbor bounce car up and down by pushing on side of hood, lifting, whatever to get it to act like road motion. Then I just keep on that stethoscope. I've found LCA's, stabilizer links, bearings, rattles behind the dash, doors, all kinds of good stuff.
Probably lame advice but it may be worth a shot.
