very bad problem

Angry very bad problem

ok i have a 2002 handa civic vtec 2.0, 5 speed, how it happened driving at about 50 to 55 mph in 5th went to down shift missed 4th hit second reved out for about a sec pushed clutch in but it was to late. now it wont exceed over1800 rpms and it runs like crap. engine light on but wont let me access code. anyone have any type of suggestion or has anyone run into this before.
if someone can help i would apreciate it

Re: very bad problem

you probably have bent valves in the head. If you were at the redline in 3rd and hit 2nd thats all it takes for the valves to float and the pistons to smash into them. Use an OBD2 scanner and it will tell you the code(s). You will probably at the very least need the head reworked. ooh and dont drive the car till its fixed. you will definatly need a new engine if you drop a valve.
