Rep Power: 0 steering wheel shaking alot..whats wrong
i just got new 17" flaken rims and new toyo proxes 4 put on my car, before i had just normal 15 inch wheels and tires. i know they say the ride is more bumpy and you can feel the road more, but when im driving like 50 and above, my steering wheel shakes pretty roughly. like side to side. not the entire column, but just the wheel. like it turns left then right then left then right, really quickly. i can get used to it but its just really annoying on the freeway having my hand shake with the wheel. anyone know what might be wrong.

Rep Power: 0 last time i had a my steering wheel shake was because of a bad tire. i had this really bad flapping noise and a lot of rumble from the steering wheel when going 50+. a few days later it blew out on me on the highway. maybe your tires didnt get mounted correctly? or mayb it had a defect like mine, too bad mine wasnt covered by a warranty though.

Rep Power: 428 based on experience and working with tires at work. balancing may be the issue, but were I work, we can do a road force on the tire. even with brand new tires I have installed, I have run into a few that had too much runout or it was just a bad tire. and the tire will still balance out. I would take it back and have them rebalance them and see if they have a way to check the tires.

Rep Power: 222 possibly allignment factors as well. for example... if your going on a straight 4 lane freeway and your car merges 2 lanes or more in less than 7 seconds while your hands are off the steering wheel your allignment requires adjusting.
or you havent torqued your wheels tight enough. get a torque wrench set it at 80 lbs. and double torque all your lug nutts. i had steering wheel vibration before after i rotated my tires one time, just re-torqued all my lugnuts and the problem vanished.
