Auto Tranny Shift Q's

I have an auto tranny and ive started to shift to neutral while approaching a red light and then stopping, shifting back to D and then going, does this affect the tranny at all?

Also, does this affect fuel efficiency?

i dont think thats a good idea to do and may i ask what is the point of doing this, just brake normally...do you want to act like a manual and roll back 20 feet than step on the gas and roll back up? i hate those people

Letting the natural trans/engine braking occur with the automatic is ideal. No sense in burning up brake pads going into neutral to stop. Just adds to wear and tear on your trans going in and out of gear.

its a bad idea just use the brake its not that big of a deal, its not like the brake pads will burn up that fast, and it will screw up your tranny so just keep it in D and drive normal
