Headlight Dillemma...I NEED your opinions asap!!
If you opened this, first of all, thank you. I really need some opinions, and fast.
I am having my car (2001 civic) repaired starting tomorrow, friday, and the insurance is giving me money for new headlights. I had projectors, but one of the housings cracked, so 1 is no good anymore to me. And I don't really WANT projectors anymore, cuz they were a bad experience (beam aiming/bulbs CONTSTANLY blowing/not being able to see for S**T at night/having to pay for a more heavy duty harness) and besides it not being so easy to fit H4 hid's in them.
So you can imagine why I am one of many civic drivers who are about to go back to a stock-like halogen housing (jUST in case I ever decide to dish some money out for HID)
*Sigh*
Now that you have listened to me ramble. And believe me I do appreciate it.
I own:
-set of projectors, no use to me anymore.
-stock OEM healights, brand new.
Should I:
A. Have them purchase brand new OEM headlights, this way I can CLEAR one set and keep another as backup??? (the whole point is to have a backup)
B. Give them the OEMs I already own, have them install those, then just pocket the money they were going to use for NEW OEMs , and purchase some ALREADY cleared aftermarkets?? (Question is, is personally cleared better than the aftermarket cleared??? I also have heard the bulbs sockets don't fit well in the aftermarkets??)
Please, I would really appreciate some opinions. I know I sound ridiculously desperate, but I just wanna put my headlight dillemma out of my mind once and for all.
I'm just not sure if I should do (A) or clear my own, then again I just don't know which ones perform/look better, the OEM cleared, or the aftermarket gunmetal/titanium cleared.
Color of car is black. All opnions welcome.
Thank you.

i think u should put the oem ones back on and keep the money and use it for something else. Its not very hard to clear the headlights, im going to be doing it soon aswell. If have something at home, mite as well use it.
when clearing the headlights, what do u guys normally use? when I opened my projector housing, I re-sealed it with clear weather caulk... didn't know where to buy the harder sticky stuff in the stock lights...
any more opinions??
any more opinions??
i cleared my stock oem headlights. IMO the cleared oem head lights look good, fit correctly, and then you could stick that extra money towards something else. i have a black 2001 civic and i think it looks pretty aftermarket when you clear the oem headlights. i would however recomend getting hyperwhite bulbs or a colored bulb to replace your head lights, running lights, and blinkers so that you get an even more after market look. i have hyperwhite bulbs and they lights up the road like it was daylight
i just cleared my headlight last weekend, no foggin no problem. just make sure get some best one GE Window and Door Silicon II, cost $5.95 something at Home Depot.....stock headlight look hot imo, dont like any projectors out there.....
