Malfunction indicator lamp light / fault code P0847

I am having malfunction indicator lamp light coming on intermittently. I went to master mechanic and they gave me error code P0847 and told me to get transmission checked but the honda manual says it is transmission problem. Where should I go to get it fixed? thanks

If you think a good mechanic is expensive, try hiring a bad one

Type your fault code into the search bar and hit enter: civicforums.com/search

The majority just need the appropriate pressure switch replaced

I went to a mechanic who said it is better to change the whole transmission (by a used transmission, total cost $1000) rather than change the pressure sensor as the latter may cause problem to recur. I asked him what if I left it as such. He said it was ok and it wouldn't cause any harm.

Re: Malfunction indicator lamp light / fault code P0847

Wouldn't you rather only spend USD 73 on a pressure switch that might take 15 minutes to replace? (or however much one of those costs, plus its gasket)
Seems like a no brainer to me.

Trans shifts okay, yes? Trans does not need replaced.
Replace the pressure switch to fix the problem.

I didn't do what you suggested not because that I don't trust you but because I have been so busy I couldn't go to mechanic but my honda civic is working OK, The same fault icon showed up before too, perhaps 1 year ago and then disappeared and it has disappeared this time too. Just wanted to tell you my experience and say thank you to you.

Yes when they first fail the problem is usually intermittent. The occurrence may eventually become more frequent.

Be prepared to replace the pressure switch to resolve the issue.
