Ktuner Warranty

I have a 2018 Civic EX Hatchback. I am still new to tuning cars so I don't really know a whole lot but I am here to learn. I want to get the Ktuner tune but I just had some questions about the factory warranty. I understand that adding a tune voids the warranty but I was wondering if I kept a backup of the factory ecu tune and flashed that on when I would be going to the dealership would they know that it has been tuned and still void the warranty? Also I am not completely set on the Ktuner I was also thinking of going with the Hondata tune instead if anyone has any opinion on that I would love to hear it.

Re: Ktuner Warranty

because when they plug in the scanner it's going to tell them the last time the ecu was updated.

Re: Ktuner Warranty

I threw caution to the wind and went with KTuner V1.2 while under warranty. I don't quite trust people under the hood of my car (save for myself and pretty much 4 other individuals).

KTuner was better bang for buck ($200 cheaper; Same price for the V2 and you get a cool touchscreen interface). Before KTuner rolled out the updates and V1.2 and the KTuner App, it was a toss-up. Now, however, KTuner has all the bells and whistles Hondata had, and then some. There are also people saying that the maps on KTuner are smoother than Hondata, but I cannot attest to that. I'm running V1.2 with the KTuner app (all of $5) and I get real time bluetooth telemetry, datalogging, the ability to adjust maps as I see fit (though, I'm not experienced enough to even think about tinkering with them), and map switching via the app. You can store 5 tunes in the unit, and it takes about 5 minutes to switch from tune to tune.

They rolled out a software update a month ago that includes some new features:
  • Si/Non-Si: P2565 wastegate disable, for those that want to drop in aftermarket turbo assemblies (e.g. PRL, MAPerformance, and I assume the 27WON one, as well)
  • Si: Advanced VSA control
  • Multi-Map switching (on the fly map switching -- CVT/MT) and adjustable launch control (MT) added for the following ECU P/N's (last 6 characters of the ECU P/N)
    • 5AA-A7x
    • 5AA-A8x
    • 5AA-C1x
    • 5AA-C8x
    • 5AJ-A5x
    • 5AJ-L5x
    • 5AJ-L6x
    • 5AJ-L7x
Currently, the software update and new features only apply for the following ECUs (here's all the ECUs currently supported by KTuner V1.2/2):

Coupe/Sedan
  • 5AA-A0x
  • 5AA-A57
  • 5AA-L58
  • 5AA-A67
  • 5AA-L68
  • 5AA-C0x
  • 5AA-C57
  • 5AA-C67
  • 5AA-K0x
  • 5AA-K1x
  • 5AA-K2x
  • 5AA-X0x
Hatchback Models

  • 5AN-95x
  • 5AN-A0x
  • 5AN-A1x
  • 5AN-A5x
  • 5AN-B5x
  • 5AN-L5x
  • 5AN-A6x
  • 5AN-L6x
  • 5AN-C0x
  • 5AN-C1x
  • 5AN-C5x
  • 5AN-K6x
edit: forgot to mention that Hondata is the only one that has a CARB legal tuner out there so far, so if you need CARB legal, Hondata is the way to go. If you don't I'd recommend KTuner. Also, KTuner's customer service is much better, according to various users on civicx that have used both. Yeah, I saw that you posted the same question up there, too. lol. This thread that got posted over there should help answer a lot of questions.

Re: Ktuner Warranty

I had a 2017 civic with a v2 ktuner. But never had any warranty issues with having it installed. I always reflashed back to factory before taking to service. I have the ktuner posted for sale of anyone interested. Great performance mod for the $$ and can always sell if you get rid of car.
