Splashless funnel kit question

I used a splashless funnel kit for my radiator having air pockets needing to be bled..in doing so I think the way the adapters are set up that it allows the funnel to inadvertently fill the overflow reservoir. I did not add any coolant on my own so I have to guess that's why I found the overflow reservoir filled to the neck. If anyone has been through this please let me know so I won't think it's something else. What I'm thinking is the overflow tube starts at the radiator filler neck and that's how it filled the overflow. When you use this splashless funnel kit they tell you on the directions to fill the funnel up about 1/3.

Re: Splashless funnel kit question

Yeah… this is unfortunately a textbook head gasket failure. You just described the symptoms to a tee.

Re: Splashless funnel kit question

Your funnel should have an adapter that seals it only to the inside portion of the radiator neck. The reservoir is on the outer portion.

Drain the reservoir to the proper level and monitor, or do the head gasket test.
