With the engine cold check coolant levels, radiator should be full and reservoir should be between min/max. If that checks out you can get a scanner that reads live data, see what it's showing for coolant temp.

Did you ever get the code from your CEL being on? What was it? It helps us to help you.
Head gasket failures are common in these engines - read up on the causes and symptoms and then get it checked.

Head gasket is probably blown, these cars are notorious for it

I dont have coolant in my oil or vice versa, no smokeing or water out the tail pipe.and the coolant doesn't seem to be leaking anywhere other than the occasional drain from the overflow i just changed my spark plugs there was no oil in the cylinders either

Re: 01 Honda Civic EX VTEC yet again

That's another thing with D17 head gaskets. They don't really show typical symptoms of a bad head gasket. The only real symptoms are disappearing coolant, coolant in the overflow and overheating.

A bad head gasket is likely here.

That is your symptom. Combustion gases leak past the head gasket into the cooling system. Those gases force coolant into the reservoir and eventually overflow it. Once the engine has cooled down you'll find reservoir over filled and the radiator low. Head gasket.
