Risks of a head gasket job on a high mileage engine that's overheated a lot?

So over the past couple of months, I've realized that I have a very slight head gasket leak, and I was wondering what everyone here thinks about the risks of replacing the gasket on a high mileage engine that has overheated many, many times.
For a little background, it's an 05 civic ex with 223k miles. It had overheated a bunch before it was mine and continued to do so pretty often when I started driving it (I would always pull over to let it cool down but there have been a few times I accidentally let the temp needle get to the top of the gauge) until I finally solved the issue by replacing the radiator after getting a new thermostat and water pump put in. However, I decided to take the old radiator apart after I replaced it and found a bunch of oil in it. That was more than three months ago and it hasn't overheated since, but I assume what's happening is that oil is slowly leaking into the coolant and it will eventually start overheating again. I should also note that the engine runs, sounds, and performs fine and there is no coolant in the oil, just oil in the coolant.
Anyway, my main question is if taking off the head at this point is high risk considering the mileage and the overheating. I'm assuming the head will need to be machined, but is it likely that the block will be warped at this point too? I'd like to replace this head gasket but I'm kind of wondering if taking the head off could be a mistake.

Sounds like your head is warped. If you're not leaking engine oil (I'm talking significant leaking, not a few drops an hour), then your block is (probably) fine.

Whether you do the head gasket job or not depends on how you value that car. It would, at the very least, need a new/machined head and the gasket kit.

Ok, thanks. It used to leak/burn a lot of oil but this ended up just being the PCV valve so I think I'm fine.
